I bought a laptop from these guys in September 2015. I was doing a masters in engineering and convinced myself that I needed some specific high-specs on my laptop. Here's a number of situations which arose within the first 6 - 12 months:
- I requested they don't install windows as I had my own version. They said that was fine. The laptop arrived and they had installed windows 7, which then had to be uninstalled. To this day it has created issues because I now have two 'volumes' of windows on my laptop which takes up an enormous amount of space and can't be deleted without wiping the entire hard drive & ssd.
- Keyboard. My space bar stopped working, My left 'shift' key stopped working or became responsive 50% of the time.
- screws fell out of the chassis within first 3 - 6 months
- High spec graphics card has never worked.
- Laptop frequently overheats
- A 'line' appeared on my screen which distorts the width of the screen 2/3 of the way up.
- Two (2) chargers stopped working and I had to get replacements
- audio jack stopped working in first 3 months
- usb port stopped working in first 6 months
- wifi card stopped working (this really screwed me over) in July 2018
- Joint holding screen to keyboard has broken in first 12 months
Luckily I had signed up for a gold warranty. The PC cost me $1,500. I sent it back when the audio jack stopped working around Xmas time 2015. They fixed that, and they gave me a new charger.
I sent it back again in the summer of 2016 and told them about the missing screws, keyboard issues, usb port and the screen issues. They denied the keyboard fault and most of the other issues, they told me they couldn't see a problem with the screen but after speaking to a manager I insisted that they replace the screen. They then returned my laptop to me with a new screen and essentially all of the same faults I had sent it in with, they didn't even replace the screws.
Now in January 2019, I've had the laptop for 3 years and 3 months. I'm holding onto it because it cost me so much money, but I wish I had just bought a mac instead. If you're considering going with PC specialist I would strongly advise you against it. Just get an off the shelf laptop from Apple or Dell/Windows. Don't bother with this company. getting to choose your own specs seems cool but in most cases it's unnecessary and for the price you can get it elsewhere with better customer service.0 -

In other words, the poster didn't properly install Windows. Yes, the supplier messed up by supplying it with an OS installed ... but they probably needed to install an OS to prove everything was working correctly before shipping, so decided to leave it installed rather than wiping the HDD. (They'll have [reasonably] assumed that the customer knew what they were doing if they requested no OS - patently this customer didn't).0

On the other hand, I have had 2 PC's from PCSpecialist and both worked perfectly first time and contunue to do so, I would buy from them again.0

Why didn't you start a fresh post instead of dragging up one that's 18 months old and of little relevance.
I've just wasted time reading the original post only to realise that it is that old and now can't be bothered to take in what you have written.0
