Talktalk doorstep seller - help please!

Hi there a friend of the family (teenage single parent living in own place) signed up to Talktalk broadband about 6 weeks ago via someone knocking at the door.

She signed up via an i-pad apparently and the only paperwork she has received was a card with her "go-live" date which has long gone.

She has not received a router but Talktalk have taken fortnightly payments from her bank account.

She has rung several times to try and cancel the contract for which she has received no service and they say she cannot cancel.

Please can anyone give us any advice as i am trying to help her as she is vulnerable. As far as i can make out from the Gov.org website, the fact that she has received no paperwork at all means that the contract is null and void.

I have advised her to go to her bank today and cancel whatever payment method she has agreed with Talktalk.

Would be grateful for any advice

TT do not sell door to door, nor do they bill fortnightly. A lack of paperwork does not automatically void a contract, but in this context it is highly suspicious. I think there is some confusion here. Has she possibly been scammed into giving a DD authorisation to a third party?
How did she manage to talk to TT? Without any paperwork she would not pass security.
So I think you need to get more info and look at her account DD's.

Thanks for the replies. The account is active as I spoke to TT yesterday using the password on her account. The contract was signed on her doorstep on an iPad. So far they have taken £75. They have opened a complaint and will see what happens from here. She thought TT were a reputable company and this is why she signed up but think Watchdog would be interested in the circumstances as none of the practices required under the 2013 legislation relating to doorstep selling were followed.

By the way she has not received any bills. This is a direct debit and every time she receives her fortnightly benefits, money has been taken by TT.
