Concrete base cost

Does anyone know approx how much a concrete base 10056mm x 4386mm (44.1m²) should cost? I would need the grass digging out, 4 inches of gravel hardcore laying and a damp proof membrane putting down. The base would need to be a minimum of 4 inches in thickness. The ground is flat. I need to stand a timber-constructed building on top and it must be on a concrete base. I know it isn't going to be cheap. Unfortunately I don't have the skills to do it myself.

I do not know your timber building details, but consider 600x600 hydraulically pressed slabs laid as a base. Incredibly hard wearing and tough, and may be cheaper than all the work you propose.0

Nope, its not a building regulations issue at any size as long as its at or about ground level and it doesn't make disabled access to the property any harder.

For clarification, the concrete base would be situated in my garden and a small timber-constructed cattery (six pens, kitchen/store room and small reception) would be on top. I need full planning permission for the cattery. The cost of the concrete base is proving difficult though. Is £2,600 reasonable?0

Is this for a business? if so you need planning for a change of use, and building regs for the building as its not residential.0 -

I paid £2,400 for a 29.2 sq m (note - carefully chosen size to avoid building regs) concrete base for a prefabricated garage about five years ago. Mine was a similar width but only 7m long, though I would think the weight of my garage will have been higher - certainly the edges were dug more than a foot deep rather than a few inches before the readymix went in, and the middle needed to be strong enough to support a car or two, rather than a cat or two.

You would like a cost, but now you have added details I get somewhat concerned about your proposals. The reception area and kitchen are certainly Buildings Regulations territory. For a start there will be drainage plus there will be wash down from the pens. So this needs designing and building in.
Your building on top of a slab means a raft needs to be designed, which in turn means reinforced concrete, and an edge detail - typically strengthened/shuttered/reinforced. 100mm gravel hardcore would not be usual on a raft, so more work and expense. The slab should be insulated so more complication and cost, plus you need to get services under/into the slab.
If I am picturing all this correctly then it is impossible to cost this work without a detailed design, and a site inspection.0 -
I've already had CAD drawings done by a specialist cattery building manufacturer and have been assured building regulations aren't needed in this case. They will manufacturer and install the building. They've done hundreds all over the country and are THE leading name in this field. Yes, I will need plumbing for a sink and washing machine in the 8' x 8' kitchen/storage area.0
