O/S Daily Friday 21st July 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Wispy clouds, with sun poking through, dry underfoot and forecast reasonable for today. We had heavy downpours for a while yesterday morning and loads of laying water but it's dried up quite quickly as it's still warm.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, peas, broad beans and gravy for the menfolk. I had HM quorn shepherds pie with LO caponata - all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight will be chicken and bacon kievs, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk, I'll have mushroom omelette and salad.

Yesterday I wasn't particularly productive, just couldn't settle to anything, although I did get a couple of loads of washing done, some line dried and some dried in TD. I got into town and back just as it started to downpour.

So today -
I'll be heading to the SM first thing, then home unpack shopping, which shouldn't be too much as we're going away tomorrow morning, but will be taking some bits with us, some of which I already have. I'll be ironing and packing too.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all, I just typed out a post which vanished. As I had nothing very interesting to say, I'll just wish everyone a good day.

    Morning everyone,

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

I’ve been awake for over an hour now, just couldn’t get back to sleep so decided to get up and read for a while.

Yesterday it rained on and off all day and at times we had some really heavy downpours. The forecast for today is much better but much fresher than it has been recently.

I really must catch up on the housework this morning. I think I spent far too much time enjoying the good weather we had earlier in the week and some things got neglected a bit.

I have got a wash in at the minute and that should be finished soon, I’ll get that on the line, then I can get another load in. I’ll leave the bedding until tomorrow.

Lunch out yesterday was really nice, the food was excellent and we had a lovely catch up after not seeing each other for a while. She is going away on Sunday to her holiday home and won’t be back until the middle of September. I shall miss having her around.

I had better get started on the chores, because if the weather does turn out nice I would like to go up to the park again this afternoon. I want to make the most of the summer :).

I hope that you all have as good a day as possible whatever you are doing.

Good morning all, beautiful morning already with the sun shining down ,looks like its going to be a nice one .just done some accounts updating and all seems to be OK in my financial world :),well all the bills are paid, and I'm in the black at least :)

looking after the boys this morning and after lunch have my history club which I always enjoy. feel a bit stiff after yesterdays drive but a little bit of walking will soon iron some of the kinks out hopefully, so will take the boys and the dogs down to the local country park for a bit of a wander this morning.
Hope all is well with everyone, and <<hugs to those who are struggling a bit.

Only four more weeks until we will be off to our beloved IoW for a fortnight.
Hopefully DGS Ben will have caught up with his sleep last night, he is going to France for a few days before we go on holiday to meet his g/f grandparents who live there. She will be joining us for our second week of our holiday as well.

Right time for a cuppa as the kettle calls.
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing

    Cheers

Tomorrow Evie has to go for her jabs and we are off out in the evening which will be nice.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I managed to sleep in till 6.30 so I missed Steve going off to work but he is on a half day today so will see him at lunchtime. Phoebe has just asked me if she can stay home as she isn't feeling too well. Becky was supposed to be going to school today but there is no sign of her yet. I will go and check up on her in a minute. Lilly is fast asleep as she was up till the early hours reading her new book.

I lost 5lb at my ww meeting but that was over 2 weeks but I am still pleased. I am in the next stone bracket down (just) so I am feeling quite motivated to get some more off for next week.

Not much to do today apart from some of the never ending washing. It is mostly tidy in here and that will do. My friend is too poorly to come and see me this week, I will send her some flowers to say I am thinking of her. My other friend came over yesterday as she had been away for three weeks in Spain. It was nice to see her even if she wanted a good moan about her hubby. She only stayed a couple of hours so it was okay.

Fish and chips for tea all out of the freezer so I don't have to put much thought or effort in. The grandchildren are staying either tonight or tomorrow which will be lovely as it feels as if I haven't seen them for weeks. It's our local Pride festival on Saturday so I will take them down for that as they have lots of things set up in the park for children such as bouncy castles and fairground rides etc. Hopefully it won't be too showery.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all,

Strange dreams I had during the night...I was getting married but had lost my engagement ring at the doctors and I had to go on an assault course at a training camp before I could have it back. Prodigal was in there somewhere as he's lost his phone. Strange dream.

Terrier (Dd2) is worrying about her newborn daughter. She sleeps with her eyes open. She's been sending me videos but it all looks pretty normal to me. Her Grandad sleeps with his eyes open too but he isn't half as cute and lovely.

Youngest is annoying me greatly. He's got time for work and a social life but his room is a pit and until he does something about it, his laundry will just be chucked on his bed. He'll have to climb over it to get to his bed like I have to manoeuvre the vaccum round his piles of shoes slung up a corner instead of being put away. I know he pays board but I refuse to live in a pig stye. My house my rules.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting. Unbelievably I had a good night's sleep for a change. It was much cooler last night so must have that to thank.

It's a fine but blowy morning. Not much sun forecast but at least no rain - until tonight! I got caught up on more washing yesterday so none to do today - yet!

A boring day ahead with the usual Friday Tidy and Clean in store. I hate Fridays and we seem to have more Fridays in a week than any other day.

Yesterday's post brought Mr TA's pre-op assessment appt for his next op - the dreaded ureteric stent change. The pre-op is next Thursday and the original time was 8.00 a.m. in Leeds. Don't these people look at the patient's address and think oh they have a long way to come and might struggle to get here for that time?! Bearing in mind we are two buses and a train ride away! I spoke to a nice lady who has changed it to 11.30 so that's much better.

The menu for Mr TA's one handed eating today is more soup and a pasty for lunch. Pasta in a mushroom and bacon sauce tonight. It's a good job he loves pasta!

Have a good day folks and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. Enjoy your long break HESTER! Take care all xx

    Morning all.

It's bright and breezy here, hope it remains that way.

This morning I'm taking a discharged patient from our local hospital down to Glasgow, a one way trip for him. Turns out he was on holiday here before being taken ill. Now he can go home but isn't allowed to travel on the bus. I get expenses for it.

My news should come in around tea time, it's too long away to keep thinking about.

There's dark clouds coming across from Jura just now.

For food there's still some yoghurt to eat up and I've got a new batched of chicken thighs. I prefer the dark meat, think it's got more flavour but I hate the bones!

    Hugs all round. Happy Friday.

    Morning :hello:

I was in the shower, mr tru was in the kitchen and Scampi was barking like a loon in the garden. When I came down the barking was still going on, mr tru had his back to the garden and was staring in the fridge mumbling about not being able to find the garlic, occasionally calling 'too loud!' then 'stop barking!' then a couple of other things that mean nothing at all. I said will you please get a grip with this?! and was told to stop telling him what to do. Instant temper loss from me, lol. I told him I was giving up, this has been going on for two and a half years and I'm fed up of doing the right things during the day to keep Scampi calm only to watch it all go backwards in the evenings when you come home. And it's left me feeling tired. So, it's all yours – good luck. I led on the sofa and put the telly on, when he realised I wasn't going to sort it out he suddenly remembered all the right words for various things (he usually 'forgets' and says it's not his fault!), the barking had stopped and Scampi came in when called. It's his day off today, I'm not looking forward to it, it going to be chaos because I'm going to leave everything dog-related to him.

So I need to fill my day away from mr tru :D I have a chair in the bedroom so I can read my book up there for a while, I can escape to the greenhouse to trim the tomato plants and I have a bit of work to do. I can't sit down for too long because I stiffen up, otherwise I'd just read all day, lol. Not sure yet how to fill the whole day but I'm sure I'll think of something.
