Best Deals on basic tyres

I'm looking for tyres for a honda jazz. Don't want anything special, but am close enough to needing all 4 corners that I might as well.

But the question is are there any good offers at the moment?

I really can't see anything.

The last time I bought tyres I bought a pair of continental and they came with a free overnight stay in a budget hotel which suited us perfectly. OK so the budget hotel was probably worth £35 and the tyres probably cost us £20 more than the basic we were going to buy, and we didn't really need the travelodge, but it inspired us to go somewhere we hadn't been before and we felt we had a bargain.

When I look now, I can't see anything from any tyre suppliers other than basic tyres and no real deal for buying more than 1.

Also I've heard people like black circles but I'm a bit nervous buying tyres online - as I certainly couldn't fit them myself.

You can use Black Circles to check the best price for the tyres you want. They provide a price that includes fitting.

I usually check the prices on Black Circles and then call up a local tyre place I've used on a number of occasions and let them charge me no more than £10 more than Black Circles want. (I usually pay between £70-80 per corner for premium tyres.)
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Blackcircles are owned by the same people as ATS, (Mitchelin?) so they fit them at the nearest ATS centre. However, you will likely find a local independent tyre fitter can beat Blackcircles prices.
Co-incidentally I just bought a pair of tyres, and found that National Tyre Services were £10 cheaper than Blackcircles.

Also Blackcircles "Budget" and "Quality" tyres are Chinese manufacture, what most of us optimistically refer to as "ditchfinders", stick with a brand that you have heard of before and can pronounce.

Blackcirlces aren't exactly cheap, they have spent a lot of money on advertising so are just well known. I have recently been looking for new tyres and ever tyre i have looked at on Blackcircles i have found cheaper on another site. So i would advise you shop around a bit before agreeing to a price.

Costco do good tyres if you have a costco card! Normally can get about £50 of 4 branded tyres!

Formula 1 autocentres do some good offers on their 'budget' brand but you won't know what you'll get unless you phone up. If you aren't a boy racer they can be the cheapest solution. I mean the tyres have to meet certain standards right?

The manufacturers self-certify that they meet a standard, tyres are not tested independently.

I've got a pair of ditchfinders on the back of my car, and not had any problem, but I don't know how much harder the ABS and anti-skid systems have had to work than with the previous Continentals. After reading the online reviews I wouldn't have them on the front though.

WBAC will give less for a car on ditchfinders than premium branded tyres too....

Ive used Event tyres in the past and been happy with them.

With tyres, there is no need to go OTT however, always remember it's the tyres/brakes that will save your life in many a tricky situation

Vredestein Sportrac 5 if you can find them. Mid-budget tyre that a few years ago was only beaten by Dunlop in Auto Express tyre tests.

£40 for 175/65 R15 from Camskill. You'll need to find somewhere to fit them, usually the charge is around £10-£15 a wheel.
