Selling Private number plate advice, what to do?
Comments
-
Hi another question is that the relative wants to sell the car as well and like to know is it the matter of just putting the previous number plates back on the car before selling it or is there paperwork/fees involved associated with the private plates before selling the car?
The personalised plate will need to be put on retention via DVLA and that will incur a fee. Do this before selling the car.
ETA:
Make sure you change the plate before it goes on sale. Don't put it up for sale with a note saying the plate is not being sold with it as that just leads to disappointment.0 -
The drawback is that only knobs have personalised number plates.....This may restrict the market.Je suis sabot...0

Can I jump in and ask a question as well ?
I bought a car that has a sought after plate, it's probably worth more then the car is tbh.
I am thinking to sell it, I've had a few people show interest. So what do I do? Get a retention from the dvla and that allows me to sell the reg?0 -
Put the reg on retention, DVLA allocate another reg. Get plates made with the new reg, sell car.
Sell old reg on retention.0 -

Apologies for a newbie question but how do I do this? Do I get a form from the post office pay a fee and send it off or can it be done online?0 -
