Damaged Luggage Claim Repair Proof of Purchase

Luggage was delayed for 3 days with KLM in Schipol and again for 24hrs on return and when it did arrive was damaged, has taken almost 5weeks for KLM to reply to complaint and now they want repair fee for case or confirmation that it is irreparable and Age of case and current value?
How do I find out any of this info? Case is around 3yrs old so don't have original Receipt, it was bought from DOMO and the make is International Traveller? How do I prove any of this, I only have pics of damage. Surely this is a put off to follow claim? :mad:

    Sorry, this board is for flight delays, not luggage delays.
    You need to look at Montreal convention to see what your rights are re luggage.
