@SummerFan - I had a letter from SSE a while ago to say that the prices were going down and that's the last I heard before this little bombshell.
I don't remember anything in the letter saying about switching provider.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Confused. I was under the impression...
I think what this MSE article refers to is notification of yet another price increase (due to SSE ending the equipower & equigas tariffs) effective 25 August 2017, so it won't show on any bills yet.
At least that is what Ebico are saying

PPM customers do not normally receive bills, do they?0 -

Was that the letter as a result of the price caps imposed on all PPM tariffs & suppliers?
The same price cap that Ebico had already understood made it commercially unviable to continue to offer zero standing charges to PPM customers?0 -
Were they not democratically elected?
Did you excercise your right to vote?
Yes, in both cases. Now they just want to know. Was that the letter as a result of the price caps imposed on all PPM tariffs & suppliers?

Not sure tbh. It was some time ago and I can't remember without looking at it again.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

The price cap came in some time ago too - April 1st to be exact
New prepayment price cap 'to cut £80 from energy bills'0 -
Surely those affected by any price rise in the equipower tariff would have been notified in their letter dated March 2017, sent out by SSE under Ebico branding.
I called them to switch back to them having not been made aware i had been removed from them, as i am a pre-pay customer i requested to be put back with them and have a credit meter installed so i could get the zero tariff - i was advised despite being with Ebico for years i would be treated as a new customer (see below as to why) and would need to stay as a pre-pay customer for 6 months on a higher tariff 1st (they also nicely/insultingly confirmed had i called in March/April i could have done this strait away).
More alarmingly, despite Ebico confirming to me they knew a lot of people had never been informed of this change back in March and as such not been given a choice, all my old customer data had now been wiped from their systems and as such they had zero record of me ever being with them.0 -
I had a chat with Ebico about this last week (after i got the SSE massive price increase letter), they advised me on the phone that they are fully aware that loads of Ebico customers did not get a letter in March and have had multiple complaints regarding this.

Ebico sent out letters to affected supply addresses, sent out emails (to those they had a valid email address for), and posted the details on their own website.
I'm not sure what more they could do in an attempt to advise those affected.
Furthermore, it was discussed at length on this site at the time.
I really have no answer for any reason you (or the "loads of Ebico customers" you claim Ebico say) did not get notified.
Everyone I know received notification one way or another.
You are correct in that you are considered a new customer. You are now supplied by Robin Hood Energy ... as you requested that. Previous to that, you were supplied by SSE.
Perhaps you should have requested a credit meter whilst with SSE who you had been with supplied by years.0 -
I also was never told by Ebico about their break with SSE. SSE told me recently and I'm staying with them. Doing so will cost me about £100 more than Ebico/Robin Hood, but Ebico have confirmed they can't give me the pensioner's Warm Home Discount (£140) any more as they are no longer eligible to offer that, so even with the increase I'm £40 better off with SSE, because they can
It's also not just about cost for me. Last year we had major flood damage in this part of the world, with no, or unreliable, power for several weeks. I'm registered as a vulnerable customer with SSE and their support for me during that time was outstanding.0
