Maximum Credit Limit Transfer

Options
Hello all,

Looking to transfer balance from a Barclaycard to a 0% card with a long no interest period.

I owe £6000 on the card but last time I applied for a card they offered me £500 limit even though I wanted to transfer the lot.

I was looking at the Halifax card and I do have my mortgage with them so is it likely I would get the full transfer limit if I apply with them or not?

Thanks
Steve

Not particularly, if affordability is an issue.

I dont want to go through the hassle of applying only to find they would give me as much as I need to transfer the balance over. Am I best calling them as opposed to checking online to see what they can offer me?

No. You won't know until you apply.

If it's too much hassle, then leave it.

If not, apply, take whatever you're given and start saving some cold hard cash.

I bank with RBS and while their card offers arent as good as Halifax would it be a better bet going with them for a larger credit limit?

If you think they will give you a higher limit, go for it.

No idea to be honest but all I am interested in is saving as much money and getting the card payed off as quickly as possible :-)

Well, if we're just shouting out names, I'd put MBNA above any of the ones you've mentioned.

But try an eligibility checker before you do.

I done the one for halifax and was 90% eligible but didnt list any sort of credit limit details. I used to have an MBNA card with no balance and closed the account early last year. I have just closed a Tesco Bank account as well for the same reasons as I heard it would eat up your available credit.

Halifax or RBS are really the options I have.

    Why not MBNA?

Nobody is going to tell you what limit you are going to get before you apply.

The highest limit I got was from Virgin who were part of MBNA at the time. That was £5500 but they have regularly increased the limit now sitting at £15000 not that I use anywhere near that.

It will come down to credit history and income.
