For your sake I hope it wasn't roosting in your house... bats are protected and you can't 'move them on'. (I'd be rather excited, but I think I'm probably in the minority here!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Eeek.Eeek....that would have had me leaving the house and begging a neighbour to resolve. Brave you!
Don't worry guys - I like bats. Was even involved in a conservation project in my youth where I had to catch and ring them

We don't have an attic themadvix - we live in the roof so they'd have to keep us company :rotfl:

How exciting, I also like bats. Many, many years ago when I was still at primary school my grand father found a dead one (not at all decomposed) in the farm buildings and brought it home, I rather proudly took it to school, I don't remember my teacher being at all put out by this and I imagine, although cannot remember details that she made it the subject of a nature lesson. I love being outdoors at dusk watching them zip backwards and forwards collecting the insects:D Miss Border Collie cannot seem to work out why they fly so much faster than the blackbirds who do get chased if I do not have my eye on her:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Glad to hear that you're a fan of bats Fortune!
Catching them to ring them must have been a challenge!
Re detectors, we went on a bat walk recently and some of the people had adapter thingies for their Iphones to turn them into detectors.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

FDawg didn't even register there was a bat in the house Maddie :rotfl: I was very pleased to see one here as I hadn't spotted any up until now. I remember taking a bird's nest I'd found into school once - I still get a little thrill when I happen upon things like that nowdoingitanyway wrote: »Trade you your bats for my squirrels?

We held a cheese and wine party last night for some neighbours and new Shire friends. The wine was courtesy of Mr F's Avi0$ points and I made a Winter Pimm's punch as I already had the ingredients in. Halved the brandy though  The cheese was the only big cost as I ordered some unusual ones in from a specialist company. And we finished with some chocolate florentines. So quite a manageable spend for a 'big' do. It was the first non-family social we've had here and the house worked exactly how we were hoping it would for social events. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves - we kicked the last out at 1.00 am  Our guests did not come empty handed so we have gained a few bottles of wine and the house is full of flowers
DS2 stayed over but electrician half-brother was ill and couldn't make it. FDawg seemed to remember DS2 from a previous visit and it wasn't long before he was trying to get him to go out for a walk :rotfl: FDawg also asked to come out of his crate towards the end of last night and seemed reasonably comfortable with lots of people in the house. He was also brave enough to ask to go out when he needed to which is a massive step forward(we have had accidents in the house before when he's been anxious about visitors).
Mr F's garage equipment was installed on Friday so he is a happy bunny. He and DS2 are out now moving things from the annex to the barn.
I am sitting at the kitchen table in my pj's  Although I have cleared up from last night.
A lazy day is planned today and some light snoozing is definitely on the agenda. Baying of things will start in earnest from tomorrow and I'd like to squeeze some gardening in before the big freeze arrives. I have ordered another 500 litres of oil in case the levels drop quickly over the next couple of weeks. I also need to arrange some catch up dates with friends which are long overdue
Happy Sunday all
