Yet another person here who feels your pain with the hairdresser. I get mine cut probably once every 6-9 months and the last time back in July, she cut lots of random layers in that I didn't ask for and ended up with these weird fringe bits. She knows I need to be able to tie it all back out of the way when I'm working in clinical areas so now I have to spend longer growing it all out again

The haircut situation gets worse. I washed my hair yesterday and, without the horrible texturising spray the hairdresser applied, I can tell that my hair has been damaged 😲 I have lots of hair but it's very fine and the high heat from the highdryer has dried it out. It feels like straw and keeps knotting up 😲 I'm devastated. My hair was in such good condition - really shiny and smooth. Now it's going to take three years to grow out the damage 😭 I called the salon yesterday and the women who cut my hair answered. Super awkward. I told her what had happened and she offered to see me today but I said I'd prefer to see someone who'd cut my hair before so I'm going back Monday morning. Not sure what they can do about it as I don't think they have a magic wand.

Half Begun
I started Christmas in the Fortunate house yesterday. Mr F fetched the decorations from the barn - really easy now as everything is neatly stored on our new shelving 🙂 Previously the decorations were stored on a metal roof rack which we hoisted up into the eaves. The tree is up 🎄 the dressing of which was accompanied by a large glass of Bail£y$, some chocolates and Christmas music (a Christmas tradition for me). Very festive. I'll put the rest of the decorations up today and, if there's time, might even ice the Christmas cake.
Some money was spent. FDawg needed some new treats for his game toys. They're really important now to keep him entertained as he's in the house more over the winter. I ordered the materials for making my own wreath. We have lots of suitable foliage in the garden and I've been on a wreath making course in the past so I hope I can manage it. Also bought some more 'filler' decorations for the tree. I should have got some when we bought the new bigger tree three years ago as it was a bit bare. Just some glitter snowflakes - cheap, plentiful and effective.
Lunch was a baked potato with salad and tuna and sweetcorn mayonnaise. Supper was the One Pan Roast Gnocchi with Squash, Sheep's Cheese & Spinach leftover from yesterday. We're still working our way through the Butternut Squash we grew this year. It needs using up now so will be featuring heavily on the meal plan for the next couple of weeks.
I think I'm going to need to dip into savings a bit this month. I didn't set a budget for Christmas as the situation was uncertain and I didn't know what we'd be doing. With DS1 joining us the cost has gone up a bit and we're going out for lunch now too. Mr F has also discovered that a lot of the fence posts in the main field need replacing. They're the ones along the hedgerow so important for keeping the cows and sheep out - for some reason farm animals seem drawn to our field and will get into it if they can. The posts will need replacing over the winter whilst the leaves are off the trees and Mr F can get to them. He's also remembered that his truck needs servicing. I usually budget for that but think I may have lost the entry in my accounts package when my laptop went kaput last year.
Feeling very thankful at the moment though. The house is warm and dry, food is plentiful and money is still coming in. We are indeed fortunate.

Thank you Beanie. I know it's a small issue in the big scheme of things but I'm really looking my age now and my hair was one thing that still looked good. I'm not an overly vain person but I do try to make the best of myself.

Fortune, I second what Beanie said. Your hair is the one thing that you wear every day and unless you've got a hat on you can always see it. I had the worlds worst haircut a few years ago and I went back and saw the manager. She sat me down and was going to just tidy up the bits I wasn't happy with, but after a few minutes she realised the mess that had been made and said I'm sorry you are going to have to come back for a full appointment. When I went back, the person who'd savaged my hair was giving me the evils from a couple of chairs along, but my hair felt so much better after the manager had tidied it up. My hair is really fine too and lots of it. I find that if I put lots of conditioner on, or even do an overnight with olive oil on, my hair feels a lot better. I know that won't help the cut but might make it feel a little better. The one good thing is that it will grow again. I don't know what I'd do if my current hairdresser disappeared. Sending hugs xx

Another suggestion for you. A few hours before you are going to wash it, maybe the night before which I usually do when my hair & scalp are feeling rubbish, put lots & lots of aqueous cream on it. It will dry soon so you won't need to wrap your head in stuff. Don't use shampoo just use the dried cream as if it is a shampoo. As soon as you wet it you will be able to lather it. Believe it or not my forehead was once allergic to my hair. This is what the doctor recommended. Fine hair here too. When my hairdresser was going on her first maternity leave she stood there telling her substitiute what to do & how.
