Wow Fortune - were you not just talking about redecorating earlier this week?!? Super speedy!
Just had a lovely experience with D3nby - which I think, Fortune, you recommended way back when! We used t3sc0 coupons to buy some replacement baking sheets earlier this year & I've just purchased some replacement cutlery with coupons as well! Both the cookware & the cutlery have 10 year guarantees on them! Customer service live chat was just amazing today, honouring the weekend sale as MrT's took 2 full days to process the coupons & then had to do it manually once I'd called to ask! The lovely lady at D3nby online chat manually applied the sale price for me, even though all I asked her was when the next sale was! I figured the vouchers were valid for a whole year, so I could be patient...but for the cost of shipping & 3x the value vouchers, now will only have to wait a couple of weeks for them to arrive! OH no longer will be able to complain about no forks & teaspoons!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!8 -
Oooh I love a good mustard paint (we have the main wall in our hallway a lovely bright mustard colour) so I'm sure the dining room looks fab. greent said:Wow - what a sight! (the swallows, not the nightwear!
) We used to have swallows nesting along our roof where we lived when I was small - but only a couple of nests - how fantastic to have so many congregate right outside - bittersweet, yes - but such is life at times...
I also sgree that it looks beautiful, fortune xx

All go!
It's been all go in the Fortunate household since I last posted:- I have tried (and partially succeeded) in getting on top of the housework. There was dust everywhere after we decorated the dining room 😮
- Mr F put up and filled the new racking in the barn. We'd originally planned to put a small mezzanine level in the barn for storage but think we won't need to now so money saved there
- friends, who'd rented the annex, arrived on Thursday so we had drinks and a catch up with them outside in the evening. They bought presents 😁 A bouquet of roses, a rather large box of luxury chocolates and two pieces of yummy cake from the cafe where they'd had afternoon tea that afternoon 😁
- we went out for dinner with them on Friday evening. I'd booked a favourite, local restaurant who have just built an outdoor, sheltered arbour with patio heaters so we were safe but dry, warm and cosy. Friends paid for dinner 😮 despite our protests as we thought this was far too much on top of their previous generosity. They refused to let us contribute but I have a plan for returning the favour 😉
- we bought a rotavator 😮 It's been something on Mr F's list for a long time and a bargain came up on FB so we went for it. He's already tried it out and is delighted with it. It will save us hours of digging and raking in the veg patch
- it was FDawg's gotcha day on Friday so we bought him a doggie cake and a new ball and took him out on Saturday to his favourite place - the beach 🏖 He has just started going into the water and is fascinated by the waves. He kept trying to pin them down by jumping on them with his front paws 😄 We did a little exploring of the area afterwards and found a new pub for lunch which we paid for with this month's fun money
- the builders have turned up this morning and made a start on relaying the top patio. It doesn't look as though the work will cost quite as much as we thought so I've also booked the Orchard man to come out to give us some advice on putting some fruit trees in the top field.
Everything has been so slow and quiet recently and now it feels as though everything is happening at once... and I have a social life. I'm making the most of it as I expect it will all slow and quieten down again soon.
I hope everyone is safe and well

Clean Bill
FDawg had his annual check up at the vet yesterday and got a clean bill of health 😁 It was quite a traumatic visit for him as we had to go to a different building this time. We couldn't take him in during lockdown when his booster jabs were due and the vet said it would be ok to delay them up to three months. However, they now have a backlog until the end of October 😮 and couldn't give us an appointment within that timescale. So poor old scaredy-cat FDawg had to go to a different practice, see a different vet and assistant and all of us wearing masks. He coped but it was a bit of an ordeal for him and I'm pleased he doesn't have to go back now for another year. There wasn't any extra cost as everything was covered under my monthly payment plan.
The builders are cracking on with the patio although they did disappear this afternoon - possibly because they ran out of concrete. I'll mention it to the boss when I next see him as I'm paying a day rate and they've only done half a day today.
Meals today have been based around stuff that needed using up:- Banana Pancakes for breakfast. I skipped the bacon though.
- Banana & Pecan Muffins
- Halloumi & Mushroom Burgers for lunch. These were delicious and are definitely on the make again list.
- Spinach & Courgette Lasagne with new potatoes for supper. That's the last of the new potatoes and, possibly, the spinach. I've still got a few courgettes left to go though 😆
- We had Courgette, Potato & Cheddar Soup earlier in the week but I made it with a white onion rather than spring onions and I think it give the soup more flavour.
Hope everyone's had a great day
