  • We've had a couple of setbacks.

One of the Tups died yesterday :( He seemed to have a cold a few days ago, deteriorated really quickly and I found him dead by the boundary hedge when I took FDawg for his morning outing. I'd let Farmer Giles know he was poorly but I don't suppose he was expecting things to go downhill so rapidly. He came to take the poor thing away but I didn't get a chance to speak to him about it. This is the second Tup who has died in our top field. You may remember Colin the Cougher last year :( At least this one went quickly.

Our second hiccup came when Mr F called the finance company to check on the loan application. The underwriters had been unable to access his credit file because he has it password protected. How very sensible I hear you say. Yes, very sensible, until you forget the password  You can get it removed or reset but it's not straightforward and can take weeks. Mr F couldn't find any note of it in the place he usually lists these things. We spent the whole afternoon going back and forth between the underwriter and the credit agency trying to find a way round it but there isn't one  Finally, Mr F stopped saying "No, no, no" when I asked whether he could have it listed under another name and checked. Sure enough he had made a note of it separately. He may forget the password in future but I promise you I never shall :rotfl:

Anyway, all's well that ends well, and the agreement is on its way to us for signing :T

Despite losing an afternoon to the drama, I have managed to get all the Christmas decorations down. They are waiting in the dining room for the new storage boxes to arrive :)

I had a very glam breakfast this morning of pate stuffed mushrooms on toast. Yes, we still have pate to declutter :rotfl: Lunch was the Butternut Squash from yesterday and supper was Butter Bean & Chorizo Stew with parsley buttered potatoes.

As it's the weekend, I've relaxed my avoidance of added sugar and am decluttering the mince pie flavour cream liquer :o

    Happy Friday everyone!

I hope so Beanie. We haven't seen the agreement yet so I'm just hoping they've given us their published rates.

There may be more of that type of decluttering to come RT :o We have some how accumulated rather a lot of exotic bottles in the drinks cupboard. I think our next friends and neighbours social will have to be a cocktail party :rotfl:

  • It's been a pottering kind of day today which is my favourite kind. Mr F is still fencing and FDawg is out with him supervising. I have been decluttering more of the leftovers - no, not the mince pie liqueur this time :rotfl: (although I may have some of that this evening).

For breakfast I greased and lined four muffin tins with proscuitto, fried up some red onion and spinach to pop in, topped with some grated cheese and eggs and baked in the oven. Last night's parsley potatoes fried up in a bit of butter made a nice accompaniment. Lunch was Italian Sausage Stew made with chipolatas plus sliced salami and chorizo. I served it with mash rather than polenta as Mr F isn't keen. There's enough left over for tomorrow and a portion for the freezer too. I need to restock the freezer as I ran it down for Christmas and I like to have some things put by for days when I'm not up to cooking. Supper will be the Butterbean & Chorizo stew from yesterday with some bread and butter.

Mr F bought some slippers today. He neglected to say that he'd worn the old ones through before Christmas  I helped him find the cheapest price on line but couldn't get cashback this time. I did cash out £10.36 from TCB in M&$ vouchers. Mr F needs a new pair of chinos so that will go towards those.

My veg box arrived. I didn't get one over Christmas as meals were planned around guests and festivities rather than seasonal produce. I'm looking forward to some healthy eating.

I need to order some more snacks for FDawg today. We used to give him dried beef hide but if the pieces he swallowed were a little too big they would irritate his tummy and make him sick. We're trying him on ox tails now which he seems to enjoy more and which don't give him tummy problems. They don't last quite as long but they are a lot cheaper.

We are having a date night tonight - Fanta$tic Bea$t$ 2. We've seen all the HP films and FB 1 together so I didn't want to miss this one. Costs will come from the fun money although I've halved that for January and February. We have pre-booked some things during that time so shouldn't feel we're missing out.

Can't wait until the days get longer. These dark afternoons may me feel very tired. Hope I don't fall asleep at the cinema :o

    Have a great weekend everybody

I love butterbean and chorizo, it goes so well together in a tomatoey sauce.
