Verisure Alarm Systems

Hi,

I am not to sure if this is the correct thread to be posting this but will give it a go anyway......

I have recently moved into a new build and looking for an alarm system. I have been shown a demo of the Verisure Alarm System and have to say I am very impressed with how it works. Love the fact it is a swipe in and out system and all the smart technology that comes with it.

However the only thing I am unsure of is the monthly cost. I have been quoted 238 for the whole system (which I think is a good price) but the monthly cost is 46 quid.

Has anybody got/had any experience with this system and would they recommend it?

I'd say this is the wrong forum. Perhaps "in my home" is a better fit.

Nearly £600 a year for an alarm system is ridiculous. Do they provide a security guard sitting on a chair by your front door ?

I was cold called by Verisure today. To answer your question yes, in fact they actually provide 2 security guards sitting outside your front door should your property be compromised. Whether this happens or not is hopefully not to be seen.

It's nice to find this thread. I was quoted £1200+vat for the system, this then came down to £499+vat without much haggling and then another £100 could be had off by booking today. Nothing like a bit of price conditioning combined with pressure sales.

Was the £238 vat inclusive? Tbh given the ongoing fees and the fact it's rendered useless without the subscription, I would suggest a free install, and even then it's still expensive.

I would run a mile from any company that operates in this way.
  • So it seems you should compare their cost with that of alarm + keyholding (eg Banham keyholding), if that is what they will actually be providing.

And you should also get a sense for how many properties they cover, how many staff they have, where they dispatch their staff from, etc. E.g. 4 guards stationed 25 miles away that cover thousands and thousands of properties wouldn't mean much.
  • We had them round a few months ago. Started off £499 for installation which we haggled down to £99 but they wouldn't move on the monthly cost. However this does come down each year, can't remember exact figures. We didn't go for it in the end but my son has it and I have to say it is a very good system. They bought a house and totally renovated it. Two days after moving in someone broke in. The police arrived within 5 minutes and the guard came and organised boarding up.
If you are out, the guard will stay for up to 48 hours or until the house is secure.
The sensors have a camera and in my son's case they took a photo of the burglar and the police picked him up a few days later so in that respect it was very successful.
So it's something that I would like if I had a bit more cash to spare but I don't know if there is anything else that is better for less money.
