Good Morning everyone, fantastic and very long lasting storm last night down here, it started at around 7.30 in the evening and just kept sporadically going for most of the night, fantastic lightning and lots of rain at times so the garden is going to have appreciated that immensely. The sky still looks leaden this morning and it's warm, warm, warm outside so I think there may be more of the same in the offing.
We had a couple of days away, He Who Knows was moving beds between the girls homes and I stayed with DD2 and those little scamps of grandsons of ours and had a super fun time making dens and tents with the Zebra child and just playing with and getting to know the Oreo (who is a total sweetie) and giving DD2 a couple of opportunities to go off and do things without having either of them in tow, such a lovely time. I've the hairdresser this morning which is just as well as I resemble a dandelion clock at the moment at every puff of wind, it needs taming. The plots continue to produce, we picked lots of lovely ripe cherry tomatoes from the greenhouse last night, oodles of blackberries and raspberries from garden and allotment and of course the obligatory courgettes from both places too! Triumph of the meal last night was the totally home produced salad which was a little gem lettuce and lots of fresh basil and parsley from the polytunnel, surprisingly good so we'll be hg that again and again as long as the basil keeps giving us new leaves.
Have a good day everyone and if you get these ever going northwards thunderstorms take time to stop and watch, it's spectacular!!! xxx.0 -
Morning everyone,
Thank you for starting us off Judi
Traveling Abuela I hope that all goes well with your husband's op today.
Specky you are a really sweet thoughtful young man.
Mega storms here during the night but they have all cleared now.
As the weather was lovely again yesterday I spent another afternoon in the park reading and people watching. The forecast is not so good today with heavy rain and thunderstorms the temperature is supposed to be about 25 degrees Celsius with high humidity though.
As the weather isn’t that promising I will get the housework done and if it doesn’t turn out to be as hot as forecast I will crack on with some batch cooking for the freezer. I have been planning on doing that every day this week but decided to make the most of the weather.
I’ve got a chicken breast fillet out of the freezer to have with dinner tonight with some steamed veg and new potatoes. I seem to have quite a lot of chicken in the freezer at the moment. I don’t mind having a lot of chicken because it is one of my favourite meats.
I hope that you all have as good a day as possible whatever you are doing.0 -
...Does anyone have any experience with belling range cookers ? I was looking at them online and they are good value but the online reviews are not good, so wondered if anyone had one, I have a rangemaster which has done us really well but does need replacing soon, any other range cookers recommended?
I had a old Belling but replaced it last summer with a big Rangemaster - I got quite a good deal from Curry's, it was in the sale with an extra 10% off as it was ex-display with free delivery & installation. I can't remember what model it is but it has 1 fan oven, 1 multi-function oven, slow cooker/ warmer & grill, with a wok burner & griddle. It has no lid so we pinched an idea from Rick Stein to cut a large piece of worktop to sit on top & act as an extra surface2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning everyone,
We had a tremendous storm in the early hours, not much thunder but loads of sheet lightening and it poured down, the garden looks much better this morning.
I need to fill my car up today so will pick up some salady bits at the same time, it's meant to get hot again today so tea with be something quick, possibly chicken stir-fry.
Hope all goes well with Mr TA's op and good luck to Gers with her exam.
Tru, I do something very similar if a wayward dog runs up to Rosie, most of the time it stops them in their tracks.
Right, WM has just finished so better get on, have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all.
No storms here last nightlove a good storm! But it is definitely not going to be as nice as yesterday. Quick check of the weather app suggests rain around 6pm. I'd hazard a guess it might come before then.
Up at a more sensible time today so I've he a good clear out of my big kitchen cupboard to fit in my new FREE plates and make it tidier. Also needed a good clean as one (not the other 2) of my wooden chopping boards hs gone mouldy
Time for a cuppa and a shower and then dog walk time.
No idea what is for dinner tonight but it will be nothing SC as I haven't taken anything out the freezer. I do have a meal plan though so I'll pick something from it.
All washing etc up to date which is a shame as it's nice and breezy out there.
Nothing else to report today - got some sewing done ready for fair on sat but nowhere near enough so hoping DS will be occupied and I'll have time for that today.
Oh and to give you all a giggle we took out out inflatable kayak yesterday (he was desperate and although I had loads to do I couldn't refuse) to discover it has a puncture hahahaha soggy bottoms all round and a quick retreat back to shore :rotfl:Emma

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Judi I hope prodigal surfaces soon.
Dull morning, thankfully yesterday was not so hot, a nice breeze all day. It cooled off quite a bit last night.
I went through the bag of fabric samples yesterday, took out the ones I can use, put the rest on free cycle and someone has asked for them, so hopefully they will be away later today. I have another bag cut out, silk curtain fabric, did think about a cushion, but it was not wide enough and not enough fabric for piping.
OH will be in the garden, I need to prep the supper, we are taking the old TV to the tip this afternoon and then calling to see our friend in Bottesford for a chat and a cuppa. The new TV is taking a bit of getting used to......we no longer have to switch the Humax box on unless we want to record something, OH is having difficulty with that!!
Chicken and bacon pies with veg from the garden for supper.0 -
Morning all,
Your posts yesterday made me laugh. You described it well Judi, it is a little corner of sanity and calmness in what can be a crazy and busy life, for me anyway.
I wanted to make the most of the good weather and chose to go another run so that's twice in a row. Knackered this morning though.
Footie tonight. And I've just remembered I forgot to take some meat out the freezer. !!!!!!!!.
Judi - Thinking of you.
Jackie - You're right. Dunno where the days go!! Is it too early to mention the 'C' word?
Nelski - Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
TA - Hope all goes well for Mr TA today.
Mrs L - I do love a thunderstorm, my favourite weather.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
We had some rain last night but I don't think there was any thunder or lightening which was disappointing as I love me a good storm.
Steve and Phoebe have gone off to work/school, Lilly has just left to go out for a run and Becky is still asleep after a really bad night poor thing.
I am showered and dressed in my lightest clothes as it is that time of week again, my weight watchers meeting. I am hopeful of having lost some weight but I will have to wait and see. I enjoy the meetings anyway as there are a lovely bunch of people who go there and the leader is really nice too so I always come away feeling inspired for at least the next day or two.
I am going to get some chicken out to make sweet and sour tonight for tea. I want a quick and easy meal as it is far too hot to stand around in the kitchen. I actually went shopping yesterday with Becky to a real supermarket instead of a virtual one. It was nice to be able to choose the fruit and veg but it was expensive to get a taxi there and back so I think I will stick to online shopping.
Judi, you and prodigal have been in my thoughts a lot. I really hope that you get some news soon xx
Sending good wishes to Mr TA for his operation. I really hope it all goes smoothly and he gets a good result xx
Fingers crossed for your interview Gers xx
Well that's all from me for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone,
We have a bit of blue sky and its breezy but no thunderstorms as yet.I'm planning a fairly quiet day today although the fridge is looking bare.I havent really done a big shop since I had the chest infection so its nearly 2 weeks, but DS has to go to the dentist at 12 so I might jump in with him and get dropped off at the sm.DGD is probably here for tea later.
Tru you made me laugh regarding taking your leggings off :rotfl:I'd be bound to have a parcel delivered and have an undignified scramble to put them on again quick.
Thats why I like wearing shift type just past the knee summer dresses-I cant stand wearing jeans/leggings when its hot.I've made quite a few myself though so not too dear and just traced one I already had to make the pattern.I know linen pants are cool but being vertically challenged the wider legs dont do me any favours
Off to get another cuppa and get some washing in,but doesnt look too hopeful for hanging it out today.
Have a good day xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
