This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning all,

Up bright and early this morning. Well up before the men anyway.

No news from Prodigal so I'm assuming no news is good news. I spoke to the community psych nurse yesterday. Now the police are in the picture her work is finished. Passing the buck springs to mind...but what do I know? He's got a doctor's appointment on Friday. I'll phone the surgery and check that he has gone.

Hubby has been offered a job in Cardiff. It doesn't start till February of next year but he needs to work out an hourly rate to make it financially worth it.

Not much to do in the house today though I do need to bleach the side of the house and bag up the rubbish. It's bin day tomorrow and already my bin is heaving.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

Good Morning all and thank you Judi for kickstarting the day. Had a good evening at quiz last night ,lots of fun and laughing plus a nice supper of minced beef with veg and scalloped potatoes, all inclusive at £2.00 :)

Mid-week already, and the days are flying by. woke in the middle of the night around 2.30 a.m. to natures fantastic light show of almost continuous sheet lightening. It was the bright flashing light that woke me up not the thunder.rain was hammering down though so the garden has had a jolly good watering.dry at the moment but a slightly red sky so probably more rain on the way.

Hope you all have a good day I am making some soup this morning probably a spicy lentil for a change. Then maybe a cake for DGS as they break up later today for the summer holidays. Hope you all have a good day what ever you are doing
    take care all

    Morning everyone

Judi - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Cloudy, dull and humid here but laying water everywhere after the storms and heavy rain we've had through the night - some spectacular thunder and lightning.

Dinner last night was cold roast chicken, LO burgers and sausages, salad, hard boiled egg, and savoury rice, menfolk all had sticky toffee pudding and custard for dessert, I had banana and vanilla yogurt. Remembered to get the pork steaks out to defrost, they are safely in the fridge, so tonight we'll be having pork in gravy, potatoes and veg.

Work yesterday was quite busy again as we were still short staffed, and I think it'll be the same today, but then I'm off on annual leave.

Have quite a bit to do before we go away - so the next few days will be spent getting organised.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning all and thank you for starting us off judi. Hoping for good news for you, at least not alarming news.

TA, best wishes for Mt TA and his hand surgery.

Speky, you are such a sweet young man.

I have a late night at work today, have to go out of city, so am going to the office later than usual, otherwise I'll fall apart in the afternoon. I went to bed early but have been wakeful since 2, with acid reflux. I don't often get this but it does hurt on the rare occasions when I do.

Am waiting for the storms to reach us, the air feels very heavy this morning.
Onwards and upwards, hope you all have a good day.

Lainey It's so frustrating isn't it? I would never usually tell a dog off, that's the owners job and most are great, they call their dogs away before they get too close or prevent them from running over in the first place if they see another dog on a lead. Although most just trot over like a normal dog and greet properly. But those few ignorants who let their dogs race up to you...... I decided a while back if they couldn't be bothered, then I'd have to do it. Arm out straight, hand up, “STOP”, dog turns around to go back the way it came :D

Nels Fingers crossed for you, you never know! xx

Once the shopping had been delivered yesterday, I locked the front door and took my leggings off, just floating around the house in a long cool shirt. Decided not to put the washing out til later, it was too hot to cover my legs up again. Last night I found the unattractive shorts I bought for my appointments with the osteopath, I'd forgotten all about them. No way will I wear them out the front, but at least now I can be decent in the back garden :D

I've filled in my spreadsheet up to the end of 2018. I pay for almost everything by direct debit so it was quick and easy, obviously things like council tax and water will go up a bit so I'll have to change those when the bills arrive. I've even included the weekly shop, I just did an average of the weekly spend so far this year. So I now have an idea of what we'll have and when, and can formulate a plan :D

Obviously now that I have shorts, it's raining and is cooler, lol. We had some thunder during the night, I woke up and thought something heavy was being dragged across the patio til my brain woke up properly and I realised what it was :D I was hoping for a proper storm but it seems to have missed us.
I have a few work things to check this morning, not much to actually do til tomorrow so it won't take long. I'll do a couple of loads of washing and not much else. Miss tru is home for lunch, our wednesday lunches have turned into whole afternoons, especially since I introduced her to the Teen Wolf series. We always plan on watching one episode but at the end the conversation goes - “MUM! Who's that man?” Can't tell you, it'll ruin it. “Oh come on!” No. “We HAVE to watch the next one right now!” :D

  • Morning folks and thanks JUDI. Hope you get some news soon.

No thunderstorms for us yet but it's damp, misty and miserable. The heavy rain is due later they say.

I am feeling all churned up this morning and will be glad when Mr TA's hand op (Dupuytren's Fasciectomy to give it the medical name) is over. He is scheduled for theatre this afternoon so can have a coffee and 2 slices of toast before 7.30 then nowt else other than 200 ml of apple juice mid morning. He has had both hands done before but his left one is curling over badly again. (Fortunately he his right handed) There is no guarantee a second op will work but worth a try they say.

Got the big shop done yesterday and stocked up on one handed eating produce! Lots of bags of pasta etc at the ready. The last hand op was 2 days before Xmas (a few years ago) and I had to cut up and feed him his Christmas dinner!

I intend to keep myself busy today to try and keep myself from worrying. Cleaning all the windows inside (much needed!) will be my first job. Need to fish the step stool out of the garage first though to reach them!

Have a good day folks and (HUGS) for all the sad, poorly or worried who want them. Take care all xx

    Good morning all

My last day here today, will go to the market for cheese to bring home, going out for dinner with DS2 and gf tonight, gf works at the British School and it's their last day today.

The weather has been lovely the past few days, glad to have the bike as it creates a lovely breeze.

I had a tour of the Peace Palace yesterday, really interesting and a stunning building.

Had to go to an emergency Dr with Ds2 last night, he had a bite on his leg that had become infected and it burst. Anyway he has ABs and a line drawing on his leg to check that the cellulitis doesn't spread.

All the best to Mr TA.

Have a good day everyone, you're an old softie Speky! Good luck with your interview today Gets. Take care. Xx

    Morning all.

Last night I sat outside until nearly 11pm just enjoying the view, the warmth and a glass of wine. Today is forecasted to have rain although right now it's lovely.

Despite the huge amount of rain we've had here we haven't had such devastation at the Cornish village yesterday. One minute all's well and the next everything's washed away.

Judi - fingers are crossed her for your son.

Thanks Camelot - I think I'm ready, dreamt my way through it last night. I've concocted a phrase to use (if there's an opportunity) and it ran through my head all night.

TA - I'm sending all my good vibes towards MrTA for a quick recovery. My DM had the same condition many many years ago and her op was fine. Hugs to you both.

First cuppa of the day coming up.

    Happy Wednesday to all.

W had a lovely big storm in the night I got up and closed the window as it was so loud OH and DD slept through it as usual, the pair of them really could sleep through anything !

Off to work today and tonight a double glazing man is coming round to give us a quote, I hope he doesn't give us the hard sell I just want a quote and then some time to make up my mind.

Does anyone have any experience with belling range cookers ? I was looking at them online and they are good value but the online reviews are not good, so wondered if anyone had one, I have a rangemaster which has done us really well but does need replacing soon, any other range cookers recommended ?

Something with mince for dinner probably chilli or spag bol or maybe a quick pizza once the man has gone.

Right better get on have good days all xx

Oh and specky you are lovely :o xx

    Good luck today Gers xx

TA hops the op goes well xx
