I couldn't imagine living in a caravan, a tiny house yes, but not a caravan. And as for holidays, we've so seldom taken them that a caravan would never be economical. A relative of ours has a camper trailer, they get a great deal of use out of it. Australia is still pretty good for free or very cheap places to stop off, off the beaten track.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Morning all
By 7:30 CHS and the boater next door are playing I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours! Engines and bow thrusters that is.
We will be setting off soon, the locks are close together so I'll be walking most of the way.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all.
I cannot believe that we are on the last day of July. Mentally I am still getting to grips with June.
Nothing at all planned for today but as it appears to be a bit cooler I will push on with getting various nooks and crannies cleaned in the hope that they won't need doing again before I move.......if that ever happens. The lady next door who is living in her late mother's house while it is being sold, told me yesterday that after 7 weeks of negotiations she has lost her buyer. She was very upset because she was given to understand that this was a cash buyer, but it turns out that it was all conditional on a mortgage being granted, which it wasn't.
Such is the housing market round here.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I always wanted to be somebody. I should have been more specific. (Lily Tomlin)I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all - love the thought for the day, Monna
More wrangling with statistics for me today. If anyone ever says that doing a PhD is about brain power, they lie - it's about perseverance through mountains of data... (apologies, FPK, I am talking about myself alone).
To liven my day I will be making a veggie curry to use up some odds and s0ds, and a loaf of sourdough bread. Don't let it be said that i don't know how to live. OH and DS have gone on a train to visit a train and DD is recovering from a cosplay convention at the weekend where her friend was very ill with alcohol poisoning (well DD says poisoning, but she is very dramatic). She arrived home yesterday with the world's biggest suitcase and about 4 other bags. She only left on Friday :rotfl: - it is all about the costumes.
We've had rain overnight (the best time for rain, i feel) and it is now fresher with blue skies. Altogether very pleasant.
Have a lovely dayI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Oh monnagran, your poor neighbour! If something similar happened to you, do you feel okay about just staying where you are?
Hester I hope you have a good day and that it stays dry for you x
My sore throat feels much better this morning :j Not back to normal but definitely much better than it was! :j
Good grief, BBC Weather have just said it's going to reach 47 degrees in inland Spain   :eek:0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
OH was a bit better yesterday and the nurse looking after him reports he is being seen later this morning by the Drs.
The sun seems to be back with us but there is a breeze. I sat with the back door open last night and had a visitor, a cat wandered in, no idea where from, its not one I have seen before. Back door firmly shut.
Cancelled the cleaners for today, no need the house is tiry and I did managed to wnagle the cleaner out of the cupboard and just run it over the carpet.
Not going to the hospital tomorrow, SS is going to take it in turns he will go one day, me the next.
I weighed myself this morning have lost 2 kilo's.
Nothing more to report, Packing the bag to take in with me today, just a few things he wants.0 -
Morning all,
We have a screwfix locally so I shall go and see the boiler suits in person when I next get a chance.
VJs--I'm at the rather extreme end of qual. work but I still agree with you. At least half of it is about the slog of getting up and doing it day after day after...
I must keep this brief. I was up bright and early for work and have just had a break for a jog. Back to it now. I'm in the office later today and then every day all day for the rest of this week, so I probably won't get a chance to pop in or read back. I look forward to being confused about what exotic animal is being eaten in a few days time :rotfl:
In the mean time I'll be thinking of all of you struggling with difficult times, esp. Lamewolf, Csarina and Nargle. Hugs to all who need them.x0 -
FairyP, while dusting and scrubbing I will attempt to think of the unlikliest animal to appeal to mar's tastebuds.
Ivyleaf, I have lost 3 almost certain buyers (almost certain in that they made an offer which I accepted) so have grown philosophical about it. I'm fine staying here in the short term, its a lovely house in a beautiful place, but it's too big for one and too expensive for me. Added to which civilisation and most of my friends are a good 45 minutes bus ride away, and while I'm no great lover of civilisation it has its advantages when you are old, car less and on your own.
VJsmum, Come on now, nose to the grindstone, shoulder to the wheel and as long as you can work in that position you will reap the rewards later. I'm assuming that there will be some reward and you are not doing all this just to prove that you can. Although that is a worthy ambition by itself.
Haven't got far with the house wifely bit today. One phone call and a visit next door to cheer up neighbour over lost sale and here we are. Will try again after lunch.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Monna can you not rent the house to your son and his wife? Under a proper legal tenancy agreement? Then you're free to float around and find something nice for yourself?0

I'm missing Kittie, I'm hoping she won't have forgotten us and will come back when she can.0
