Thanks Karcher. I know lots of folk have gone through the same or worse. We are strong and some how we can still find nuggets of humour.
I hope no-one will be horrified by our reaction to the following incident - dad was wriggling about a bit yester, while telling an amusing tale. I asked him if his catheter was bothering him. 'No', he said, 'I'm just re organising my nethers'. We all cracked up laughing, icluding dad, when my brother said he didn't think the book of famous last words was quite ready for that as a quote.
Yep, it's gallows humour but if you don't laugh you'd cry.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

MMF - huge hugs for you and your family. Your dad sounds such a character and a laugh is so good for you all.
My very good friend's father had to have an enema and told her he didn't like it. When she asked if it was painful he said no - it stirred his elementals! That phrase has been used between us now for over 20 years to describe all sorts of situations.

MMF laugh as much as you can love. The most wonderful thing in the world must be to die with a smile on your face, or in your heart.

Life without an oven is strange. It proves how much we take things for granted. I went to the village shop this morning and purchased a frozen chicken dinner for one. That will be my Sunday roast, duly nuked. The rest of my food has to be boiled, nuked, in a sandwich or on toast. I do have salad but its a bit chilly to make that an attractive prospect.

Floss, you were right about the charger, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. As I only seem to have one charger that I use for tablet, phone and kindle, I'd better find a replacement pretty quickly. Now, where do I find one? I guess it would have to be a shop that sells computery things. This means a trip to the metropolis, a 3 hour round trip on the bus. I'll see if I can bribe DIL to get me one, she works near the shops.

I have one more batch of mincemeat to make and then tomorrow I will spend making the mincepies for other people to bake. All part of life's rich pattern.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY.

Life is not about how fast you run or how high you climb, but how well you bounce. (Tigger)

(((HUGS))) MMF. Your Dad sounds lovely. Although it will be very sad to lose him, after a time you'll find you can think of him with a smile, and remember the things that made him lovely.

burtha Thinking of you! I hope you and the children are as ok as possible xx

  • Just catching up here. My thought are with Ivyleaf, MMF and VJsmum. Also Nursemaggie, I've lived in a block where noise travels and it can e a real nuisance. Upstairs neighbours stamping around must be a nightmare. Fingers crossed that you will be able to move soon. It looks like our move will happen between Christmas and New Year - great fun, not!

Your oven door incident sounds scary, Monnagran. I had heard that Ovenpride cleaner can cause this to happen if used on glass, don't know if this is true, but since I read it I've avoided using it on the glass.
