Do airlines lie?

Hi, we were delayed 3 and half hours recently. The delay was detected early and came up on the app saying that had been an air traffic control issue and then as the day went on the plane kept picking up more and more delays on each turn around. The pilot said the plane had delays before he had started working and then had picked up more delays each flight (short haul). We all put in for compensation and easyjet are insisting it was due to weather. There was never any mention of weather issues, and every place the plane got delays (was tracking it on the app all day) had no weather problems, i.e. It flew from France to England a couple of times which were both fine.

there is an Easyjet board where this would be best on
what was your flight number and date? it may well be that compensation is not due - there will be a delay reason logged0 -

According to the flight checker on EUClaim
Unfortunately you are not entitled to compensation.
An analysis of the data for this flight shows that an extraordinary circumstance was the cause of the delay.
An extraordinary circumstance is a situation which the airline has no control over and cannot be held responsible for, for example, a strike by air traffic control staff, bad weather or a terrorist attack.0
