I have booked to go to New York through British Airways. I am 6ft 5inch so i require extra legroom seats. When i go to book my seats, they are going to charge me £60 extra!!
I find this abit unfair, so does anyone know how i could get this cheaper or even free?
Thank you :money:

If you are a BA Gold card holder you can select for free
If you have no BA status then you need to pay the same as everyone else (the only free assignment without status is in First)0 -

I find this a bit unfair,
You get used to it.
You could book a standard seat and hope that you get "upgraded" at check in. It has happened to me a several times.
I never take the chance on a long haul flight though, or if I m travelling on a plane where I won't physically fit in the standard pitch seat.0 -

How much are you paying for your holiday/spending money,i bet that £60 is a small percentage over what you will/expect to pay in total.:rotfl:0 -

How many airlines give free seat selection prior to OLCI never mind free extra legroom? If you want the extra space then you pay for it, like everyone else .0 -
I have had some truly miserable flight experiences when no extra legroom seats have been available. Particularly galling when I can see the seats occupied by short ärses.
In those situations, I must admit that it has crossed my mind that extra legroom should prioritised based on need rather than want.0 -

I'm a 'short ärse' but OH isn't, so you'll often find this 'short ärse' occupying an extra legroom seat

I'd introduce a minimum bum to knee measurement. Any less than that, you would be bumped out of your seat if it was needed by a long legged person.
Having said that, my wife is 5'6" and following one excruciatingly painful flight on Virgin Australia, I made sure I had an extra legroom seat on the return leg. The system wouldn't let me select just one, it was two or none, so I had no choice but to condemn some poor lanky sod to the same agony that I endured on the outward leg.0 -

I dont need extra leg room (only 5ft 8) but i like to be comfortable so i will sometimes pay for extra legroom seats.
