    1. The glorious returning joys of 2015 Royston Vasey, right now on r4x, ALL night looooong-YAY, and 3 night specials on't'box. YES!!! Lovely listening, some great Now Show hits earlier :-)))

    2. Early au lit, shan't say how long since:-) with 2 lovely hwbs. Meriva unloaded b4 noon, not by much. So?.... Framer in town of horse under severe pressure. Terrific little 1884 Emmanuel watercolour, Portsmouth Dock, needs reglaze, accident of Spits passage.

    3. Happy emporium mtgs, rtcs, crowded though it be'd. Took the silly Heston sprouty-like dessert, one of today's ½price 24hr specials, but this one was rtc below that again. On verra.

    4. This extra unaccustomed rest is feeling good. Did bring near dry laundry in, put potential spits patchwork quilt out. Can stay there o/n.

    5. Mmmmm. A little something is in order - rtc avocado? Ditto steak? Will go and choose, because I can. Lucky us.

I've been cursing my neighbours all evening (to myself) for making clunking noises. Turns out it is the beams of my house, presumably flexing after warming up or with the weight of the snow gone. So I've been wandering round, listening to creaking, clicking noises. Tried not to creep myself out too much. Sat on the loo - and the bathroom door opened itself! It does happen occasionally because all the walls lean so you have to make sure a door is "properly" opened or closed.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A lie in.

    2) Sausage sandwiches for breakfast.

    3) Smaller son went to the football with his friends.

    4) Bigger son is out at a party.

    5) I went to Sainsburys and got a few more Christmas presents.

    6) Hens OK and half the snow has melted in their pen. Might be able to get the car down to them tomorrow as the enormous sack of fresh bedding is up at the house, not down there.

    7) Tasty tea of yesterday's roast with a few chips.

    8) Tidied up, did loads of washing, wrote few extra Christmas cards, wrapped all stocking fillers.

    9) Watched Strictly final.

I'm wide awake in middle of night but will try & get back to sleep.

    Saturday included

Nice chap came to give me a quote for a new boiler...£4000 ...don't think so! Shall shop around.

Quick chat on phone with friend.

Did a shop for our local food bank. I had a few items in my cupboard that people had bought me when I moved here that I wouldn't use and then we actually got quite a lot for what I spent. Every time I was in supermarket I would pass by the big crate on way out & think I must get something so went specifically to do this. Met a couple of friends whilst there so more chatting!

Finished Christmas cards , all posted or hand delivered. DD1 & I went a very slippy , icy walk to deliver them. One friend was in so we had a hot drink & a blether.

We had a takeaway Indian meal for tea. No more for a while but it was nice.

Watched strictly & my favourite won.

A bedtime photo of GN who's first tooth has came out & will be waiting on tooth fairy!

    Morning All,

Mhags I was wide awake a 4am Thursday (Doggy whining cos of sore paw) and Friday (DD crying coz longdistance relationship cooling). :(

    Saturday

    1. Early start for day trip to London. Slow train, but cheap! Nice chat with DH and DF.

    2. British Library for Harry Potter exhibition. Sold out online, but some tickets are available every day and managed to get some :j Really enjoyed the exhibition. Wandered around for 2 hours. We will definitely return to explore more of the library.

    3. Lunch at covered market at Kings Cross. Not quite as good as your Pizza Express bill Bagpuss, but free Waitrose coffees.

    4. Minalima for their Harry Potter exhibition and bought a few postcards.

    5. Wandered around Liberteys and Fortnums looking at the Christmas shops. (Liberteys won). Then best treat of the day......pots of tea and cocktails at Fortnums.

Cocktail made me very hot, so had to wander back to train station carrying my coat and slept most of the way back home. :o

    A Grand Day Out! :D

Long time since I posted. We went away for a few days and then delayed coming home and then spent a week trying to catch up.

VJsmum so sorry to hear about your Dad - hugs.

    1. Met friends for a meal. Had a great evening and not too expensive. Had crackers but reading the jokes was a problem as only one person had reading glasses with them!!

    2. All decorations up. House is looking festive. Also some flowers brought which are festive colours.

    3. Christmas cards written and some already hand delivered. Some have been posted.

    4. DS1 phoned and he is coming on Christmas day for late afternoon and then spending Boxing day with us.

    5. Watched Strictly when we came home.

That is some seriously impressive saving Bagpuss!
We too have a very creaky house Frith, frightened the life out of me when first moved in but more than used to now, in fact find it quite soothing, sort of settling.

    Saturday pleasures,

Cold, cold start to get to stables so pleasure of walking back into a warm home, more than aware others are not so lucky.

Another one here who had eggy bread for breakfast.

Animal beds washed and part dried on line, finished off in boiler cupboard.

Sausage and chips for tea, proper saturday one according to Capt S.

Watched Strictly, glad my favourite won but jeez did it go on!

Evening all - another day, another train. This one back from ICT.

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Thought train was going to be cancelled en route due to a problem at a level crossing - fortunately it was sorted and we were only 20 mins late. The pleasure is also that the train was bloody freezing so arriving was doubly pleasurable
    2. House was cold (we keep the heating fairly low when we aren't in it) but a combination of whacking up the thermostat and putting on the gas fire meant we were soon toasty. I really want a log burner in there but yesterday the instant heat of the gas was a pleasure
    3. Went for a circuit (a walk by the sea) for 40 minutes. this is a long circuit. it was extremely bracing.
    4. Went out with friends for a bar meal (in the Peniarth at Bryn Crug, Frith). Good pub food
    5. OH and i did the 2 miles or so back under a star lit sky. And it didn't rain....

Have lovely evening all. ICT and 'our' railway is on the Julie Walters train show tonight. 8pm Channel 4
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • We had an unexpected er unwanted person decide to try and come in last night, at 4am in the morning, the door was being rapped continually and there was a lot of warbling going on, we both got dressed and went to open the door to be greeted by a Romanian chap saying he was frozen he had to come in and we must tell him what to do. At that point I made sure both he wasn’t injured from what sight could see and that he didn’t have a weapon. I tried to communicate I was going to make him a tea while I switched the kettle on and dialled 999. They were amazing, staying on the line listening to what was unfolding and talked me through what to check around the house and what to ask, and reassured that blues and twos were on the way, it was quite odd from the point of view it felt like hours, but it really wasn’t. When they arrived, they said the neighbours had also called the police and had an eye on things.

1 The relative comfort of the emergency services being amazing.

2 Made a start on catching up with some washing loads, there’s a lot to be done, clothes, bedding, animal bedding. But DH ran out of trousers today.

3 Delivered the neighbours cards around.

4 Meal planned as I forgot to, so it is going to chicken salsa to go with wraps and turmeric rice.

5 I have some old gloves I’ve had them many years and they were expensive back when, yesterday when we stopped for a tea in Greggs I left them in a booth pondered back on our way it was ages before I realised, we mentally tracked back to where they were and went back rather despondent, but some kind soul had handed them in behind the desk with the rather lovely looking cakes and there they were.

    6. Candles are lit, and dinner is cooking, while the animals play in the garden sorta hygge?
  • 5 Usual SatFest breakfast was wolfed down. Snorkers, best back, grilled toms, mushrooms, fried tattles and poached egg on hot buttered toast! Tum rubbed.

4 Had to lose pennies on rusty iron yesterday. Should never put money on Appleby and Frodingham! Managed to salvage for Saturday.

3 Was in emporium this morning. Loads of sheeple rushing cross to get space and lo and behold one at the door. All bits now in for four snooker fest on Christmas Day. Had test today of three snorkers and Rosemary enfused roast tates. Pan gravy, nips of swede and carrots. Tum again well rubbed.

Got veg in and frozen for chrimbo. Mince pies are bought this year as I am tooo far toooo buzy!

    We are on a roll!
