Its nice to be past caring about being an eccentric
say what you think, do what you like. Pity it takes a lifetime to get there
My cabbage soup was very nice, had a touch of sharpness because of the red pepper and tomatoes but now I have had cake, only because I was so frustrated with a cheap download for my laptop. Took 2 days to get there but eventually it worked and I saved a packet but I needed cake0 -
I popped to L1dl, wanted to see their cheap veg with my own eyes, before I visit 4ldi to see theirs with my own eyes - so I can choose which I'd prefer to buy.
While in there I picked up a box of honey nut cornflakes, pack of 2 part-baked baguettes, some cranberry sauce (never had it before), my Xmas biscuits *dances* ... and a pack of six sausage rolls.
Lunch was two hot sausage rolls.0 -
I keep thinking about trying (as I cannot see any information on it anywhere) about trying to deep fry a sausage roll, as horrible as that may sound. I have seen bacon deep fried ( ! ) before though. Something tells me the pastry will fall to bits though. Maybe a little 'experiment' next week.
I do have a random question to anyone can help pleaseIt is daft I know but as they say "its more daft to not ask" , these 'garlic breads' you see, the pack of two or four (or more!) slices, it usually says "throw into oven for 10-20 minutes etc" , is this actually needed ?
I mean they are fully baked as far as I'm aware not "part baked" , I'm assuming its just to soften them up a bit rather than any 'must be warmed up' health thing. I thought about getting and trying one in the microwave but that seemed a bit silly. I'm wondering if I can just eat 'as is' really.0 -

That was my thoughts this morning - we'd have been agreeing with each other over my morning coffee earlier on that one.
I was thinking that possibly the biggest let-downs I've had over this life have been my own hormones and/or weaker willpower than I should have had telling me that I thought/felt/etc differently to what I personally really did. My own hormones played absolute havoc with my feelings for decades and I'm sure I often didnt really feel the way they told me to think I felt iyswim.
I'm only too thankful that they didnt tell me I wanted children - when I actually dont and never did. Each to their own on that one as to whether they want to be a mother or no - but thank the lord (umpteen times daily) that they never lied to me/had me believe them that I felt that way. My mind was the one "in the driving seat" on that one and I could always see that very clearly (whatever else my hormones were up to misleading me as to my real feelings). Though I did have help from the fact I know I've come from a line of women on my mothers side that didnt want children - so at least I never got pressured by my mother on that, as she does understand me in that respect at any rate LOL.
By now - I've learnt "There'll always be someone" when it comes to a person or people disagreeing with whatever I think/have decided on and that's just the way things are and to ignore anyone telling me their personal opinion is Fact. I will turn round these days and say "No it aint - its just your Personal Opinion".0 -

So, yes, it's fine to eat those "as is" or nuke them .... if you're not that bothered. For others without an oven/hob, who had a toaster/toaster bags and wished them to be hot, that'd work too.
My toaster's too small for the bags.... but I'd nuke them. Although I don't buy ready made garlic breads, I prefer my garlic bread to be soft and doughy, so would make my own if the urge ever occurred.
I find those packets to be quite nasty and sharp and brittle.0 -

So the answer is it's not unsafe.... it's just not going to have the same texture/consistency as it has now. So it depends on how you'll use it and if you care enough.

Well the yukky cold hit good and proper last night, I was shivering and had a headache and cough. Luckily I'm off today so I've spent the morning in bed. It did mean I couldn't go for my Xmas veg, but my sister has been for it and brought me some lemon sip things, which I hate, so have been forcing it down for nearly and hour!! It taste like vicks to me. Bleughhh.
I have had two clementine s and a cuppa this morning, and just had 2 toast, I wasn't hungry but don't want my immune system to drop any lower.
I've 2 more days left at work , and I can't be off as I was off when hubby died, and will hit a trigger,if off again. So I'm hoping to be at least shut of the headache and shivers by tomorrow.
I've actually got a 6 day break this year, which is unheard of, normally luck to get 2. Namely because of the way the days fall, and there are no extra hours to be had.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

.
It wouldn't pour, at a guess.... but would be OK to use as a scone ingredient, or if you make rice pudding ....
It's easy to find ways to use up foods isn't it ... except the list of suggestions is never the stuff we make/eat/use0 -
Managed to get over 90% of the water out of the Dw, and found a circuit diagram on the web. Once I get the door panel off I'm hoping it is one of two switches, my money is on the door latch
Either way I doubt there is any chance of getting a replacement switch this side of Christmas, which in some ways takes any urgency out of repairing it
Lunch was cheese salady sarnie
Dinner is going to be cold LO roast tomato tart, with LO beans from breakfastI keep thinking about trying (as I cannot see any information on it anywhere) about trying to deep fry a sausage roll, as horrible as that may sound. To be fair the other makers did not but I 'forgot' to mention that part.

You're right. If it were plain bread and garlic butter it'd be safe. They cook those and all you're doing is re-heating/crisping them in the oven.

As silly as it sounds I bet someone has done a battered deep fried sausage roll too. :rotfl:
To be honest I do not recall ever having tried any Garlic Bread, so it was more 'lets try', I have had (accidental purchase ages ago) Garlic crackers instead of salt/pepper ones and did quite like them so the twin pack of tiny garlic breads seems worthy. I did wonder if it was butter content which was half why they wanted them warming. If I get some I'll gently warm them in the zapper I think to see what happens, figuring that will warm up any buttery content which may 'spread the heat' a little.

Hopefully you will be able to find what you need and sort it.Here you go Andy, tried tested Scottish recipes, including salad:D
