Cooking for one (Mark Two)

I've got another day off from cooking today. I'm being taken out for lunch by my sister in law as it's my birthday. I haven't decided where I want to go yet though.
Breakfast is some chocolate cake that I defrosted overnight.
I will get some more crumpets while I'm out and will probably have one of them if I fancy tea. I may even treat myself to a scone with cream and jam for tea. Healthy eating can take a back seat today.

I have just had a breakfast that was yummy, like a special pudding. I soaked the rolled oats and pecans in just a bit of hemp milk but left them thick. Got berries out of the freezer. In the morning mixed that lot together with half a tub of hm yogurt. omg, it was gorgeous. Farway the yogurt was the nicest I have ever made, very thick, a spoon would stand up in it. Tbh It is much nicer than even the very pricey yogurt I had been buying. I am really pleased. I will mix the other half with some plain and simple stewed apple for a snack this afternoon and next sunday will make another batch, ready for monday
I have treats in the freezer, the date slices and am strictly going to limit myself to one treat a day. I already have parkin, cut up and tasting strongly of molasses and bought a whole tub of fat free yogurt to make nigellas bundt cake today, which I will make and slice for the freezer too. All these are much more appealing and satisfying than the bought bakewell, which I scoffed
Rest of the day will be vegetable based0 -

Have just opened a pack of cooking bacon and its lovely. Three nice thick gamon steaks and a few rashers and bits. Gammon steaks are in the freezer and bacon omelette with a few of the bits.
Am out for lunch with a friend dinner not sorted as will depend on what we get for lunch.Slimming World at target0 -

As a lone CFO, orphaned, childless, spinster, hermit of this parish ... mine's invariably spent home alone ... without cake.
Mine's "soon" is all I shall say.
Hope you have a great day. You started it right by getting cake in!0 -
I did the dreaded shop run .... but omitted the items that I think are better at the other shop (L1dl honey nut cornflakes are better than 4ldi's as they're thinner/crunchier and easier to eat).
Managed to get a big haul of "random food that sounds as if it might be useful to have".
2.5Kg spuds, 500g brussels, 500g carrots.
loaf of bread, 12 large bread rolls
40 cocktail sausages
15 fish fingers, 1Kg frozen peas
tin of spaghetti hoops (they're down to 14p now, so it seemed daft not to buy one!)
400g mature cheddar cheese
1 pint of milk, 10 eggs
200g instant coffee
Spent £11.... a fortnight's food there almost!
I should get round to eating that chicken I cooked ... but how. On a plate, or in a giant Yorkie? That's the question. It'll be served with brussels, carrots, peas, spuds and gravy ...
But I might not fancy it as I've now got the makings of a cooked breakfast. Toast, sausages, beans, scrambled eggs I think! In a bit though, need to warm up a bit, haven't had the heating on and just been out in the freezing weather (had to scrape the windscreen).0 -

looking at that random basket (mountain) of food, I can see hm potato cakes and much comforting goodness
My next birthday is a significant one, one I do not want to be, it will take me over the bridge with no return, with no second chances and I will want to sleep through it0 -
:bdaycake:Happy Birthday Holly xx0
