Does anyone know the cheapest place to get those foil dishes with the cardboard tops that you can freeze in and put straight into oven. Do £land sell them?

£land do sell them .... in two sizes.
The rectangular ones .... and the long rectangles.
    10 for £1.

    Scroll down http://www.poundland.co.uk/home-and-pet/kitchen/food-wrap-and-storage

Are you planning on putting together a whole lot of Saddo, Billy No Mates Meals for the freezer?

Personally, I find the size too big to be a portion for me most of the time. 2/3rds of that size would be best. It's like when you get a takeaway ... 2/3rds of the portion's enough ... leaving you with leftovers not quite big enough to make a 2nd meal ... but only serving half leaves you with too little on both occasions.
  • Not so much "Billy NoMates" stuff there using containers like that Pastures you know:rotfl: A quick study of quite a few vegan food bloggers on YouTube for instance shows that it's very prevalent to go in for having a food prep day once a week (say Sunday) and make up several portions of (identical) food at the same time and put all the rest in the fridge or freezer to eat throughout the week.

Good idea in theory - but, in practice, agh! that's asking for that Groundhog Day scenario us singles get so much of when it comes to preparing food for ourselves. So I'm not planning on doing that personally.

A meal's worth of doing food prep. that way is deemed to be one of those take-away food containers worth of food.

Personally - I'm not sure I'd regard one of those containers worth as enough for a full main meal myself:rotfl:

:rotfl:No I'm doing a veg lasange this week, the smallest I can reduce the recipe is for 2. So one to eat and one for the freezer. I will eat the frozen one the follwoing week, otherwise I will end up with a freezer full of meals I will forget about.

    Good evening everyone,
Welcome iammum2one, I like the Wilko foil containers. I find the small ones are fine for a portion of lasagne or cottage pie etc.

The weather was lovely this afternoon though it didn't get above 7C. I was well wrapped up and it was lovely to be out in the sunshine for a bit. I got the last of my annuals composted and the leaves & debris swept. I've over done it a bit but it was worth it. I was indoors in time to catch "Sounds of the 70s" on the radio which I love so after a cuppa and my feet up for a bit I had a good singalong while prepping veg for root veg mash and soup. :D (I can't sing for toffee but least living alone there is noone to comment on the racket:rotfl::rotfl:)The soup veg are in a sealed tub with some ham stock and I'll bung it all together tomorrow morning once the pease pudding and cooked ham end has defrosted.

My son brought tubs of it from Newcastle, it's basically yellow split peas cooked cooked very thick. So thick you can slice it when it's cold. I like it if the peas are cooked in proper ham stock but the packaged stuff is cooked plain so I'm find it bland so will dilute it down in soup. My son was so delighted when he saw it in Morrison's when he moved to Newcastle that he brought me umpteen tubs of it as he thought I'd like it:)

oi!! :D I spent a few pleasant hours today, doing just that. I get my trays in bulk from costco. I used enamel tins for the small crumbles as they are cooked and I only need to defrost, not cover with foil

what is saddo, is me counting the hours to blissful sleep in bed, 3 1/2 to go. Been one of those nice satisfying days

I didn't venture into the garden today far too windy, I would have been chasing individual leaves around to collect them :rotfl:

I love sounds of the seventies takes me back to my teenage years, so were you Bowie or Bolan? :D

I've tried, honest your honour I've really tried but I don't like buckwheat pasta, don't like the texture or the taste and I wont put up with it anymore. I have about quarter a bag left so it will be offered up to the birds as per AB yorkies - of course I will cook it first :D

Bowie all the way :D, although I was but a wean for most of the 70's I love lots of the music from this decade and late 1960s. My first single was "Donna" by 10cc, I was only 7 and nagged my parents to buy it for me. After that it was 1979 before I bought any more music (Oliver's Army). I still like both artists though morphed into a punk/rock chic with a soft spot for folk & country after that :rotfl::rotfl:Suffice to say I have very random music collection :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope you have more success feeding the birds with the pasta, they more or less ignored the ABs until I gave up and binned them .
