So glad I popped out last night - weather's utterly vile here today! Dangerous out ... and wet/windy ...
I bought sausage rolls while out last night, so it'll be sausage rolls for me for lunch today
I also got 500 grams of lamb mince, date is best by tomorrow - I plan to make kebabs with that.... hopefully today.... but maybe tomorrow.0 -

Freezer was empty of chips, which was annoying as that was on my list.
We don't have any here either :mad:Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £87.350 -

They're probably squeezing them out .... to replace them with organic curly fries, cooked in sustainable oils....
I've noticed a nut roast in the freezers, £3.99!
Walking round there now I might as well be in Fortnums ... it's no longer good old "Lidl, affordable food"; it's now for wealthier people. Even Tatler did an article on best buys at Aldi/Lidl !
It's the end of choice and variety for peasants it seems. They'll end up with 12 products in the whole shop the poor can afford ...as a token throwback gesture
Even Basmati's had the heave-ho - and I thought basmati was posh ... must be all that posh Xmas stock using up the shelves.0 -
Betcha those "sustainable oils" might include palm oil - labelled as "sustainable palm oil". Just skimmed past the article - but gather there is no such thing as "sustainable" palm oil.
Add that canola oil isn't on the agenda for health reasons - cant recall details - just remember my verdict.
Then there's the fact many are moving towards cutting out oil altogether now - and I suspect you'll still be able to find the frozen chips you want Pastures.
I never cease to be astonished at the fact that T*sco has twigged that there are people that want vegetarian ready meal type stuff (eg "sausages") - but the second one looks at the packages it says that it includes soya. Duh!!!! That's out then - unless the word "organic" goes in front of soya it's not possible to buy it - as I gather all soya pretty much now is contaminated by being g*netically modified (unless it says it's organic).
I'll give T*sco 1 out of 10 - the one being for some (low) level of awareness on that front.:rotfl:
Today's shopping trip to Tesco found a couple more types of Violife "cheese" (ie vegan cheese equivalent) there and, as I'm semi working on giving up oil as far as possible, I bought the "Parmesan" equivalent (despite the coconut oil in it). Rice Dream organic rice milk is on special offer at the moment - at £1 per carton - so duly stocked up on it. It's very rare to spot any reductions on any food I ever buy....sighs...0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Cold and wet here though not windy (so far), so I shan't be straying further than the bin today.
My friends with pooch and my sister popped by for a cuppa and a natter which was lovely.
My son phoned me from Lidl last night as they had vac pac pouches in stock so did I want any. Needless to say these, one of there Stollen (BBE Feb 18) and two jars of their aubergine antipasta have been purchased on my behalf:). The stollen & aubergines will popped into my Christmas stash. I think the price difference between Aldi/Lidl and Tesco/Asda/Iceland has definitely narrowed though certainly for things like antipasta Aldi/Lidl do seem to still have an edge. The aubergines were 85p per jar. Tesco don't sell but in my local deli they are over £3:eek:.
Breakfast was a quick protein fix of sliced cheese & cold meat as I wasn't expecting mid-morning vistors so needed to get organised. Not sure about lunch (something hot I think) and I fancy a piece of steak tonight so will get one looked out of the freezer:)
I hope anyone in the storm path is safe & warm.0 -

I found this site when looking for something else http://www.stirlinghealthfoodstore.co.uk/ don't know if it is of any use to you?0 -
Afternoon everyone
I have yet again got a lot more eggs than I need. I think it is because the weather hasn't been good so I've been having porridge for breakfast and not scrambled eggs on toast.
I'm going to have a cheese and mushroom omelette with some oven chips and either beans/peas for dinner to use some of them up.
I've had a tuna mayo sandwich for my lunch. At least the tins of tuna are going down now. Tuna sandwiches are something that I usually fancy more in the summer months though so it's likely that the stockpile won't go down much now until next spring. At least when it's tins they do keep. It's just the space that they take up that is a problem.0 -
I liked the sausage rolls so much, I had a further two
So that's four sausage rolls today already.
The other two are calling my name louder than the pack of raw lamb mince can manage....0 -

Best put them and you out of their misery then;):rotfl:
Lunch ended up being tomatoes, mushrooms and egg on toast, it really hit the spot:D0 -

Yes I noticed the nut roasts in the weekly offers leaflet along with other "new for autumn" roasts. I'm also getting a bit disappointed with L!dl, there seems to be more and more ready meals/convenience foods taking up space on the shelves. I'm very much a cook from scratch person although I do like their chicken kievs
Our store still has the basmati and after a seriously long absence tinned chickpeas and butter beans are back on the shelves but the small tins of sweetcorn have disappeared along with the wedges of parmesan and blocks of butter, A!di is further away but may be getting more of my customJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
