  • Done my supermarket run for the week - and it's a high proportion of fruit and vegetables again.

Think I'd better have a go at grilling vegetables in a minute for lunch. I've got some radiccio growing in the garden and thinking that grilling one of them might be the way to go - with a scatter of salt and balsamic vinegar afterwards. Think I'll have a go at grilling corn on the cob too. Must have a go at making oil-less hummus in a minute too.

More experimenting coming up then - as the only way I've eaten corn on the cob before now is positively lathered with butter - so not at all sure what I'm going to think of it with not doing that:cool:

Happy Days to the latest little YouTube video I had mailed through this morning from the "Happy Pear" twins (ie athletic-looking Irish guys). It was weight loss tips and, at last, I've clicked to what this specific "diet" is that one pays them money to go on a course and learn from them. Got it - it's wholefood plant-based eating. Now I've got it figured what it is - I can just read loads of stuff about that for free on the Internet instead:)

I ended up gettiing "out of sync".

About 11ish I was peckish - and remembered the reduced muffins I'd bought/frozen, so thought "I'll have a quick toasted muffin & marg" - went to the freezer and spotted two old crusts of bread, so thought "I'd rather get those out of the freezer than a muffin" so got them out and thought "Scrambled eggs on toast... to use those up".

Stuck the crusts in the toaster and realised I only had one egg, so opened a tin of beans in a hurry - ended up eating two crusts, 1/3rd of a tin of beans and 1 egg....while thinking "can't have the burger for lunch now as I've eaten all this".

So the burger's now relegated to tea-time.

Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon (just!) everyone! :hello:
I'm new to this thread, discovered it last night so have been catching up to today! Hope you don't mind me jumping on!

I'm living in a flatshare buying/cooking for myself only and I'm trying to live a little (lot) more frugally as I've a lot of debt to pay off in a fairly short space of time! I've just taken on a 2nd pt job starting Monday to earn some extra money, I'm already on a very tight budget and struggling a little but I know if I was more strict with myself, particularly when it comes to groceries shopping/eating/drinking it would be a bit easier. I signed up for a groceries challenge on another thread to keep myself accountable!!

I'm loving seeing what people are eating, crumpets, crackers and cheese... just making me ravenous though!! :D

  • Last night wasn't actually CFO - once again, fed one of my pontoon neighbours. Jerk chicken, with rice and peas.

Lazy morning here, lots of cat cuddles and coffee.

Am I the only one who finds breakfast a bit "meh"? I often CBA, then it gets to lunchtime and I realise I've not actually eaten anything.

Hi there and welcome to the thread :) Be warned though that you'll be reading about all manner of foods that you'll want to try lol. I now have a stash of butterscotch angel delight in my cupboard thanks to a certain lady who is currently extoling the virtues of lamb burgers ;)

I do this all the time and have also noticed that if I do eat breakfast I'm just as hungry at lunchtime as usual, and at the same time too! Maybe my stomach is just a bit odd though.....

I grew up not eating breakfast. Never really bothered. I've had a few hotel buffet breakfasts over the years and one Toby Carvery buffet breakfast.... and it plays on your mind....so ...

It's all changed in recent years as I'm having a bit of an addiction to cooked breakfasts. No doubt that'll stop at some point. I've been eating a variety of them for the last couple of years, but increasingly so.

I do tend to like something, do it a lot for weeks/months, then randomly stop and find something else....

But that's fine as it doesn't take up much space .... and is good for CFO as you can just sprinkle out how much you want on demand.... when you finally get round to it and have the milk in etc etc.

Unless by "stash" you mean you ordered a box of 240 sachets :)

    Hello, welcome :hello:

You're right you will start eating all sorts of things that you wouldn't have otherwise tried. I hadn't eaten crumpets for years, but now I go through loads of them, and all because of this thread :)

I appear to have started a cult of crumpet eaters, angel delight devourers, L1dl tinned tomato tasters and now lamb burger noshers :)

I'll drag you all down to my level soon .... and let's not forget good old hash browns :)

    :)
