My bread was mouldy, so I begrudgingly dragged myself up to 4ldi at the last possible moment.

Grabbed a 6-pack of crumpets and 4-pack of muffins both marked at 30% off (BB tomorrow date). Got a loaf of bread.

I now need, at some point this evening, to make some egg/tomato and cheese/tomato and tomato sandwiches and box them up in the fridge as "grab and go" food in case I randomly decide to leave the house tomorrow (doubt it though).

Grabbed a pack of lamb burgers. Having eaten 8-12 of each variety, I think that the jalapeno ones are best when you've got a hot chutney ... and the lamb ones are best when you don't. And I've run out of hot chutney, so it was lamb burgers.

Also grabbed some choc ices ....

I also bought a jar of cocoa, for cooking. There might be some brownies making an appearance in the next week or two.

I've just scoffed one piece of toast with some chocolate spread on it.

You've got the CFO necessities in stock now :).

If you don't go out tomorrow, by making sandwiches tonight at least you won't have to think about what you are going to eat during the day tomorrow, particularly if it is another warm day.

Asda was really fantastic for reduced today. Loads of pasta salads bagged salad and ready meals soup mix etc all at 5p but best of all these

    https://groceries.asda.com/product/pates-herring-pickled/asda-fishmongers-selection-crab-meat/910002585536

at 25p instead of £3.40. I bought 10 for the freezer. a real treat as I love them but would never buy at full price.

Also as everything was so cheap decided to experiment by freezing a couple of tuna and sweetcorn and egg mayonnaise. wouldn't normally but worth 5p to try it.

  • Dinner tonight was an experiment again. Ahem....another case of "Well - I ate it". This time it was buffalo cauliflower wings and hot sauce, eaten with sweet potato "chips".

Duh! and I've got to have it again tomorrow. Never mind....I'd been wanting to try those two things for a while - as they are ideas that keep cropping up currently. Well - I've done it now - and shant try again on that.

I'll admit I had to google 'buffalo cauliflower wings'.

Even though you won't be making them again, like you, I'm a firm believer in trying everything once, and like to try new foods. If you don't try things you don't discover new foods that you like.

Grass mown, phew it was scorching out there, good job I've only got a small patch
Picked up yet more apples, looking at the pile of them I do think it will be more jam, I may try & find some elderberries in the hedgerows, but these days of tidiness a lot of bushes have now vanished

Dinner was as forecast, much to hot slave over cooking. Pork & lettuce sandwich with the nuked jumbo oats & fresh berries / yoghurt / honey

The jumbo oats made loads, I used my normal porridge scoop which makes about half a bowl when nuked, but the jumbo filled the bowl after nuking so know to use less in future

TBH if I did not know it was porridge I would have thought it was creamy rice pud
Very nice & filling, too much of it eaten really, nothing more needed tonight

  • To me - a breakfast bowl size portion of jumbo oats is 25 grams and milk (with whatever fruit/seeds/etc I put on top of it). That's because I follow it with 2 slices of toast.

If I was just having porridge I'd bump it up to 50 grams worth I think.

I used to have 50 grams worth and my 2 slices of toast - but cut my helping in half when I read that 25 grams is perfectly adequate. A calorie - or two or three - saved.....

crikey, scorching, not half, hot and airless

On my own now and lovely and quiet, the pud went down fantastically, they loved it, knew they would, fortunately got a bit left so something to look forward to tomorrow, plus left over salad bits, got rid of 5 tins of sardines, they love sardines and asked for more :D

I am not looking forward to going to bed, will be far too hot

Definitely not hot here - not cold either but very much one of those sunnyish days with a hint of Autumn coming. Scarily it's nearly dark now .....
