I'm laughing at the thought of how I'd have coped with the way most men I've ever gone out with eat compared to how I personally eat (ie genuinely healthy/varied/basically vegetarian over the years and have done some veering towards pescatarian and now distinctly veering towards veganism).
Mealtimes would have been a right bundle of fun:cool:
I'm told the boyfriend-of-longest-duration I had is wholefood and vegan these days - :rotfl:as I was the one that got him interested in cooking (way back before I went that way myself). But, as for all the others  - I can just picture them sitting there at the dinnertable chowing down on a meat-heavy/unhealthy meal, followed by a pudding and chucking lots of junk food down their throats in between meals at regular intervals . Whilst I sat there with my fashionable/healthy/veering towards vegan food I eat across the table from them. Kitchen apartheid would prevail - with my wholemeal or sourdough bread in one breadbin and they'd probably have M*thers Pride sliced white bread in another one.

Dropping in to say hello.
Yesterday was weird. Girl cat patently not well at all, so ended up with a random vet visit. Jab and tablets and she's now alternating between being loving and being psycho ("let's knock everything off the work surface, where I'm not even supposed to be")
Got my cooking mojo back and made my favourite Sichuan food, but in quantities for an army. Chicken with preserved black beans, smashed cucumber, steamed rice.
So spent today eating leftovers from last night. No vampires in E14 in case you were wondering - that's how much garlic went in.
Then randomly ended up on a massive clean down of the exterior of the boat, with my neighbour's help and his power washer. Seems that the boat is cream, rather than grey. Who knew?!
Pizza and a whole heap of CBA tonight. Was supposed to go to a house warming, but just don't have the energy (and want to make sure Girl Cat is genuinely back on form...)0 -
Salads today, just the same as normal cfo as I am having to scrape around, being carless for two weeks so far and no shop within reach and only 2 days notice. Good job they and child love sardines and beans in salad but I did make a rather delicious (I think) pudding, so that will be the last thing they remember. Will make it again but in small trays for me to freeze. Lots of chopped peeled apple, I used red windsor from a tree, cooked gently with little butter and little cinnamon and some raisins.Topped with flapjack mix. Baked 45 minutes
Got up at silly o`clock as was excited about making the first loaf in new bm. Turned out stonking. Rounded crusty top and cooked well on all sides, about the size of a small bought loaf. I am very happy with my purchase. It needed milk powder and had none in, so made a small order from wholefoodsonline, came yesterday, phew, otherwise I would have made french bread in it
My genuine cfo will be at teatime and I will be having crusty bread, butter and jam. Lovely to see people, lovely to say goodbye, well I am being honest, I like my homely nest and my peace and quiet
Hope cat is ok SS. Horrible when a loved pet is ill0 -
'Tis that time of year for apples.
So duly made a sorta fruit charlotte yesterday for one meal - ie apple (from a neighbouring garden) and rhubarb (from my own) stewed-up with a variety of flavourings, topped with breadcrumbs and nuts and seeds. Eaten with - no surprises there - Oatly cream again.
I'm taking to adding as many flavourings as possible to food these days - herbs/spices/whatever. Vegetarian/vegan food can be rather bland otherwise - but with flavourings = now that's the answer.
Still looking nervously at miso in the kitchen and getting my nerve up to try it and not quite sure what to do with it.
Hope GirlCat is soon back to normal (well - maybe not quite normal - if normal translates into heading in for another swim again.....:)).0 -
Yesterday I had a burger in a bread roll with a slice of cheese and the final scrapings of jalapeno relish from the jar.
Today I have had a burger in a bread roll with a slice of cheese and a squirt of ketcup.
Cheese is the half price Emmental from L1dl the other weekend (never had it before, bought 3 packs). Burgers were the frozen ones from 4ldi (4 in a box, so 2 left). Bread rolls were the 4-packs from 4ldi which I bought (30% off sticker) and froze the other day, so 6 now remaining of that haul!
CBA to go out looking for new/different food. I've got food here, so I am trying to eat it.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
I didn't manage to post yesterday - I'm not too sure where the day disappeared to! My son came home late on Friday night so I'm not CFO again until tomorrow. I didn't cook at all yesterday lunch was a pie from the food market and my son cooked chicken balti pasanda last night which was gorgeous. Brunch today was lorne sausage, tattie scone and fried egg with a good splash of HP:D. I'm on kitchen duties tonight but an easy one as we are having turkey & gravy from the freezer, I'll make up a few kiltie sausages (pigs in blankets), pick some green beans, sort out another veg and with mash, yorkshires & stuffing from the freezer should be a fine enough Sunday dinner;).0 -
Up and about early in the sun, spot of volunteer gardening then off to Waitrose for the Jumbo oats. Mornflake Gold, approved by Heart UK, so lots of health there
Back for a lunch of cold pork & lettuce sarnie, the Coronation chicken I had earmarked for lunch was too large a portion for a light lunch really, so back in fridge for another day
It is so hot I had thought about salad again, but I think now it will be lunch repeat, plus I have some raspberries begging to be picked & Jumbo oats gasping to be trialed
The oats are soaking in the fridge, raspberries warming on the canes. Just need to cut the grass and I'm all set
Sunday roasts are a thing of the past when CFO;)Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Afternoon everyone,
A really hot afternoon here today and the forecast is for even warmer weather tomorrow. I've been making the most of it while it lasts:)
I went for a walk along the river this afternoon and took my lunch of a cheese and pickle sandwich with me. I am getting bored with cheese again now, so will probably grate and freeze what is left of this block for cooking, or use it up stirred into scrambled egg for breakfast.
I've got some of the chicken left over from what I cooked yesterday for dinner toninght. I'm going to have that cold with a jacket potato, peas and pickles. That should leave me enough for one more meal, so that will get eaten tomorrow probably with salad if the weather is as warm as the forecast says it will be.
I hope that you enjoy your porridge in the morning Farway.0
