Yes it's an iPhone 4s from we think 2013 before they started supplying them unlocked in jan 2014.

Wentin this morning. Store have given us another sim to try in case it was faulty sim. Phone saying 'Sim not provisioned' for the moment. They said it might take a couple of hours for it to activate :/

Shop chap has filled in the unlock form online (again) but we haven't heard back from this yet so still having to play the waiting game. Think we will be resorting to buying son new bl00dy phone as just can't keep waiting - he needs to be able to give his number to his friends, poor thing is in turmoil over this.

Girl in shop did interestingly state that we have 14 days which I was surprised to hear.

So this evening we are free of the useless contract (yay!)
And the boy has a new second hand phone with his old sim (yay for him, boo for cash balance!)
... The other phone remains locked but we live in hope that one day it might be freed, having presented death cert and filled in the form for a third time???

You might have better luck appoaching Apple for the unlock code.

Apple won't unlock a phone, it has to come from the network (or a corrupt insider).

Three unlock all their phones for free, you wasted your time and money going to a back street phone unlocker.

The CEOs office at Three will sort your issue, email [redacted]@three.co.uk and ask for assistance with getting the phone unlocked.

Hope the back street unlocker hasn't fouled the phone up.

If three unlock phones for free then maybe just contact the general three customer support line.

This is a really annoying move to contact the CEO for this basic run of the mill service.

It will just go to CEOs assistant who will just forward it on to the customer service email anyway.

Not even quick anyway, if you want a quick response dial this number if you have free minutes: +44 7782 333 500

(This is the general customer service number on their website, not the CEOs personal mobile phone number)
