After disregarding a letter , email, phone call s. I have found out that I am from 22nd July a paid up member of E On's FULL price scheme. I am happy to stay as I was on RHT, meters were fine, one six years old, bills paid DD for years but no use I must pay more (their estimate £1027) unless I have a smart meter! Some choice ! Cutting off my RHT is a "Business Decision and outside the powers of Offgem or the Ombudsman so there is noithing I do " I quote directly from a phone call yesterday. They have asked for an uptodate meter reading in order to provide a forecast comparison of my alternatives. and they may or may not put i t in writing ( they have been very reluctant to write anything so far) Of course the phone number they gave was not a direct number but one where I was in a queue - I gave up after a few minutes of their dreadful "music" At 89 years old I get fed up more quickly these days. I would like to quote Hardy's remark to Laurel and address it to the various goverments who set off this "Choice" farce, but I have forgotten the exact words something abou t "another mess" perhaps "fine"0

This company does do this type of thing.I was with them many years ago after being transferred through a number of companies starting with Eastern Electricy/TXU/powergen.They introduced a £10 Independent gas transporter charge as seperate item.At the time I wasn't happy and couldn't understnd where that suddenly came from and out of the previous made me switch supplier.
They became expensive.Foreign owenership has driven up bills. The house here was new in 2000 The developer signed up to ELF energy the bills were through the roof with them.At the time transferred to the then Eastern and they were 1/3 of the cost. When EON eventually arrived arrived it was time to switch agan.

A quick update from me.
I spent a disproportionate amount of time on the phone with EON, to agree that my Economy 10 meter should be replaced by a Smart Meter with the new Economy 10 tariff (+15% by the way).
The new meter was installed on 11th September.
Since then, I have been on EON unrestricted tariff, rather than the Economy 10 (off peak + peak).
I have emailed EON with picture of the new meter that displays the said tariff, but not answer as usual.
My conclusion: EON are lying or incompetent or both ; they will change your meter without sticking what they have promised you!
I am now talking to the Citizen Advice Bureau about this.0
