Been thinking about this myself, and while i've still a way to go in gathering much of this together, this is my intention at the moment..
Mom: hamper with home made damson jam, golden plum jam, strawberry preserve, sloe gin, after 8 vodka, toffee vodka, and maybe a few other foodie things.. perhaps some smellies and/or a book too.
Dad: hamper with Stilton, Cheddar, small bottle of port, home made chilli vodka, pickled onions, red plum and cinnamon jam, chilli jam, a selection of crackers and nuts (and pork scratchings!), some slippers maybe.. everything a grumpy old man needs of an evening
Grandmother1: hamper with home made damson jam, golden plum jam, red plum & cinnamon jam, sloe gin, damson gin, small christmas cake and christmas pud, some home made sweets (like fudge/toffee) and a large sheet rolled up with her family tree on.
Grandmother2: hamper with home made jams, pickled onions, sweets, jar of mincemeat maybe, maybe christmas cake. Not pudding though as she makes her own. an IOU of a hanging basket with tumbling tom tomatoes in (i know she grows her own tomatoes in the greenhouse).
MIL/FIL: hamper with "english christmas foods" (they're dutch) home made christmas cake/christmas pudding, chilli vodka, sloe gin, toblerone vodka, mincemeat, a selection of english cheese, jams, maybe some pickled onions.
I've some of this made already - the jams and pickled onions - the biggest problem is finding bottles small enough that i can give people a selection of booze without it costing the earth. So far i've found 250ml bottles (with a screwtop lid- and slightly too big i think) and 15ml bottles (too small).. nothing inbetween! argh!
even more argh: the stuff for MIL/FIL has to be made for 3 weeks time, as they're visiting the UK at the end of October for OH's birthday so i have to have this all ready to give to them, as i can't post it (they're driving across).
I'll get there!

Gosh, don't you all buy alot of presents for lots of different people.
Didnt think we were that bad - only buy for my oh and kids, my sis whos only 8, my bro who 19 (so 9 in man terms :P) and my parents
The only person OH buys for is his oldest nephew!
Though more people are getting more presents this year because we are going to see santa at harrods so 'lesser' relatives (sounds mean but its true) are getting a picture but its not something we usually do.
Had a chat with friends and the agreement was we are only sending cards to each other apart - though I saw the Gingerbreadman suggestion and the box of love one in another thread so may send those as a token
So thats cut my list right down0 -

Extended family have cut right back this year and have decided we aren't buying for each other, which I'm rather devastated about because I love christmas
So just my boys to buy for . . .
DS1 (20) He wanted money to go and see Linkin Park in concert, so that's his BIG Christmas pressie. Will also get him some fuel vouchers and do two baskets for him - a Hot Chocolate one and a Pizza one.
DS2 (18) He needs a new computer monitor (studying computer science at Uni), so we've bought him one on special and it will be a joint Xmas/Birthday gift (birthday is 20 December) He'll also get two baskets as above.
DS3 (16) Boxers - bought on special, not sure what else. His birthday is 19 December, so he's difficult along with his brother no. 2!
DS4 (15) Boxers - bought on special, perhaps some earphones for computer, or speakers for his ipod (that he bought himself)
As for OH - I have NO idea!
I've made a start, though, so I'm pretty pleased about that.If there is to be any peace, it will come through being, not having - Henry MillerM.A.C.A.W Member . . Wannabe Flybaby0 -
