I have one of those horrid electric cookers too. I have noticed that Lakeland Ltd sell pads 3 for £2.99 that are purely for blacking the raised oven tops - I shall be getting some with my next order as my oven tops look terrible.0

aaah, now i know what you mean! oops i wouldn't have thought olive oil woulda helped!:D my pal had one like this, and she said she used the stuff that came with it (presume its hob brite) she said it was ok, but not fab, it was a paste that made the rings black again as they fade over use/time.totally a tog!:D0

Hi,you could try using stardrops. Mine gets quite bad at times before cleaning:o. But a couple of squirts of stardrops diluted with water left for a while most comes straight off and the other comes off with a scrub. I used to try allsorts but this is the easiest and best way I have found. If it is really bad you could use it neat. HTH.
Edit: sorry the above is for the actual hob not hob rings..:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11

Stardrops and all this other stuff is ok, but I don't have shops like these anywhere near me I don't think. I only have Tescos/Morrisons etc.
I'm gonna go down now and try hob brite with steel wool...will let you know!0 -
Graham - look at this website http:///www.lakeland.co.uk - you should be able to find those pads that clean and blacken your hob.
Anyway, don't know why the girls are whingeing - its nice to see a man who is domesticated (do you wanna clean my cooker too LOL)0 -

Hi, I'm sure you can get stardrops from in morrisons/tesco's. However, I'm not sure you should try steel wool, won't that scratch the surface and damage it?:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11
