Lovely people, I have some big news...
Remember the job I didn't get, well, a few days ago, they rang me up saying it wasn't going to work out with the person they'd offered it to and, as I was a very close second, was I still interested? Well, of course I was/am woop woop:T:T:T:T:T:T I start on the 7th November, so it's all go here in Wish towers.
We've got appointments with childminders and nurseries on Tuesday, hubby has been told not to take any work for the 7th as we probably won't have started child care properly by then and I need to find the floor in the office in order to work harmoniously (I see some crazy sorting out to come....)
It also has other knock on, positive financial implications,
1) Dad transferred the money to pay for my Dbs check today
2) new job will pay for my Dbs check, so I only need to pay out for the update service
3) offered Dad the money back - he said 'treat yourself' so I have, I've added it to the mop pot.
I've also had a little hunt for reward credit cards, I do have an empty credit card, but it gives me nothing, I'd quite like a reward one as I'm going to Be doing lots of traveling, probably by train, so will book on the credit card and get reimbursed at the end of the month. I will set up a ynab slush fund when I start so that, if expenses are delayed, I'm not paying interest and it's not affecting my day to day spending, but I'm also hoping, over time, I'll be able to claw back my initial investment from the mileage money I'll get. I've worked out it will be about £25 in fuel to get to the main office (where I'll go 4 times a year) but the mileage rate works out a just less than £100. (I'll need to drive on these days as the trains just don't work for the times I need to be there ) - any suggestions for credit cards gratefully received.
As a result of the above windfall from my dad, I've topped up the mop pot, smashing through target 2 and am now over half way towards super stretch target 3, who would have thought hey? (Especially as I've not been doing the surveys) technically, I could transfer the Dbs money into the mop pot too, but I'm just keeping it out of the way at the moment, just in case.
In other money news, £3.50 for Pickle to go 'climbing' today - its soft play really, but at a climbing centre, so a little different. And a £6 supermarket spend for fruit and bits for tea, I desperately need to meal plan, write a list and go shopping, but as hubby is around, and my return to work date is now looming, we're making the most of the family time. Hubby's alarm is set for 3.45am as he's off back to the big smoke for a rig in the morning, so Pickle and I may hit the supermarket first thing.
Finally - had to put another £20 worth of fuel in the car today, fuel budget is so blown it's ridiculous. I was hoping November would be a very low fuel month, but as I've got the journey to the office to make, at least once, it won't be, although I need to remember I will get that money back and just need to juggle appropriately.
I cannot wait until the end of the month to tally up my totals and do the money shuffles, we're going to hit the rainy day/emergency fund for Pickle's child care deposit and first month's fees, but I'll repay it from underspends and expenses over a few months.
I just wish I could sleep, my brain is whirring and I just want to crack on with preparing for work.

Thank you eveveryone for your good wishes. I'm still trying to process everything, and panicking slightly how we are going to fit all the travelling in as we both now have jobs that require us to travel and no family close buy to help out, although my parents have already offered to help in any way they can, despite being a two hour drive away.
Today could have been a nsd (can't they always???) but I realised when tidying up my section of the office I don't have a 2017 diary.
I didn't intend buying a 2017 one, I'm sure I can print something off the Internet for November & December, but I did buy a 2018 overview sheet & a 2018 week to a page diary for my ring bound, insert famous brand diary. I have also cleared out all the school notes and meeting minutes that were in there. It's feeling very thin at the moment, but I'm sure that won't last.
As a couple/family we use a cloud diary synced across our phones and tablets, but I like a paper diary for appointments and meetings and things.
I've been using a bullet journal for my personal life since September and I think I'll take aspects of that across to my paper work diary but, at the moment, I need the security of a system I know works for me.
Pickle had me up at 3:45
This morning so feeling a little delicate now,
Especially as he's fighting sleep at the moment.
Not sure on weekend plans apart
From the fact I'm solo parenting.

Just catching up on your diary.
Massive congrats on the job.
