We all dislike the modern overuse of the word "like".

I'm told I make unilateral highhanded decisions, Just Like my father.

We're both good with forms, computers & generally getting along with systems so we've both rather slipped into the default responsible adult role giving the other more room for manoeuvre.

We both want our children to do the very best they can - and I'm quite willing to use text, email, bribery, blackmail & just getting on with the teaching staff to encourage them - something which I definitely learned from my parents (even if I was as bad at bringing messages home as the lads are.)

We both drive large cars, on the original pretext of "have to move a cello". (We're both eyeing hybrid tech, riveted, as want to conserve the planet for the offspring.)

We both swear in Russian. Saves no end of fuss with Scouts. I can call them insults that would shock Baden Powell rigid, reasonably confident there's noone in 10 miles who understands a word.) Dad learned it as a student, I learned it at school wanting to learn what he said. Then applied Google translate...

Other than that, we're really quite different people. (Oh who am I kidding? He's my adored father, of course we're alike in a lot of ways, he raised me/had me raised that way...)

I am not material, exactly like my parents. I love cars but despite having the finances to afford something fancy I opt for cheap and practical as I would rather have the spare cash invested for the future.
My Dad always said "save save save, you never know when you might need it".
    Best. Advice. Ever.

Oh and I am a terrible gossip like my Ma :rotfl:

I'm stubborn like my mother, but that just means that I have never given into peer pressure and have always been headstrong.

I'm creative like my father. The only trait of his I have thank goodness.

  • Unfortunately I'm starting to be more like my mum by giving lifestyle advice to people who didn't ask for it! :rotfl: I think I need to reign that one in...

My mother hated waste and I'm exactly the same; sometimes my children laugh about it othertimes they are not so amused like when I go around knocking lights off that are not needed (even in their homes).
I follow her in not showing too much emotion, following routines and worrying about anything new.

Not too much of my hard working and socialising father except for logical mind.

I am unlike my mother, who was a reasonably good amateur cellist, but she took hers to school and college on her bicycle.

That'll conserve the planet for you. :rotfl:
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
