The good news - Ebico still lives! Still with a zero Standing charge!!

They are now partnered with Robin Hood Energy instead of SSE.

Loads of posts on this forum on this subject.

Except when your on prepayment though. The unit cost is slightly cheaper but they introduced a standing charge at the time. After I switch to another supplier I received a letter to sign from Ebico to transfer to this Robin Hood but on closer inspection it was the same price as British Gas so will be staying with them

Much has been mentioned about this. However British Gas don't claim to be a non profit organisation, reaching out to the vulnearable and disengaged, owned by the council, tackling fuel poverty.Theres more of this on the Ebico page too and its 73p a year difference with British Gas for my usage.Ebico blamed the prepayment cap

There does appear to be somewhat less controversy over standard credit prices however the new arrangment is nothing like the old and better SSE venture and there appears to be hefty increases likely in the future according to reports .

In what sense is it 'nothing like' the arrangement with SSE? Ebico are partnered with an energy supplier, and offer a zero standing charge tariff, albeit with fewer options than before. That appears to be 'similar' to me, not 'nothing like'.

The same could be said across the board. Customers who stayed with SSE saw a price rise in the Spring, followed by discontinuance of the SSE 'zero' tariff. Customers who stayed with Ebico (and I accept not all could) saw a price reduction, and a promise the new lower prices would be 'fixed' until December.

Given the state of the market, if Ebico don't increase prices in December I'd be gobsmacked. If their new prices are more expensive than another supplier I'll switch.

I'm not sure I see what the problem is?

Here is the post you partially quoted.

I didn't know Scottish Power offered a no standing charge tariff

If they don't, and you are better off with Scottish Power, then it sounds like you were never on the best deal by being with Ebico for a very long time.

There are currently other suppliers that offer no standing charge tariffs, and many are cheaper than Ebico.

I have posted it here in full (you didn't), and still cannot see I said that you said that.

My point was that I didn't say that Scottish Power offered a nil standing charge tariff. So your statement quoting that post stating that you didn't know Scottish Power offered a nil standing charge tariff didn't make sense.

Oh dear have you seen the price of fish? btw Scottish Power don't sell fish either. Not that I know of anyway.

Well actually.... if we are talking about SSE then fish are one of their products, though I'm not sure they sell them to the public -

As part of their hydro-electric schemes they have a duty to maintain and improve salmon stocks, so they hatch fish to release into the wild.

If you are interested in fish and energy there is also a very impressive visitor centre at Pitlochry dam, and you can watch the fish using the 'ladder' to bypass the dam. :)

    Strange, but true ;)
