02 not fit for purpose

Hello.

I've been with O2 for a few years. Every time I've enquired when is 4g going to be available I have been told soon. This is now obviously a lie.

I am now with BT mobile 4g and get 4g everywhere in the area I live. O2 couldn't even cover approx 30-40% of the area on 2g! I got sick of asking just be told very soon 4g will be available. 4 years down the line no 4g.

I need a mobile reception being disabled and cannot walk far at all. O2 just don't give it. Is this grounds for Not Fit For Purpose?

They want to take me to court because I refuse to pay for a service that is intermittent at best and no recption most of the time. I thought walking around the house trying to get reception was over. I did offer to pay the difference between the BT charge and O2. This came to around £2.80. per month. I spoke to a person at O2 (India, Africa) I recorded the call, and it was agreed. Now I've received a letter demanding payment. Out of principle and my understanding of not fit for purpose I am not going to pay them.

Any advice please, and thanks in advance.

I forgot to add the charge for O2 for 500 minutes calls and unlimited texts with 1gig of roaming was £16.00 per month and I received only 2g reception. No internet or email at all. Ever.
With BT I GET 16 g of roaming and I get super fast 4g almost everywhere, unlimited calls and texts, for £15.00 per month. I now can go on the internet and send and receive emails with no problems at all. This is the difference that I argued that if O2 could not say when after 4 years of asking for 4g then I would go elsewhere, which I obviously did. I now no longer worry about breaking down as my mobile reception with BT is 100%.
