Sky HD box asking for PIN

Had I changed channel at 9:01pm instead of 8:58pm would it have asked for a PIN?
Is it really that much of an imposition to key four digits, though?
None of the providers showing age restricted films before the watershed can do so without requesting a PIN entry for viewing. This is an OFCOM ruling and so affects Virgin and BT etc as well as Sky.
No customer can disable PIN entry other than for Pay Per View content and even that requires a PIN if age restricted viewing is purchased and viewed before the watershed.
All of the old forum discussions about this have not lost relevancy in the interim.0 -
...my HD box has an option in Parental Controls to “Require PIN on Pre-Watershed Playback Y/ N”, and the info pane specifically says this covers movies rated 12 and 15 before 8pm.
But I still get asked for the PIN when selecting these movies?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

That setting is for movies in the planner that you recorded manually. It does not affect movies that you get On-Demand which will always ask for a PIN depending on the age rating.0 -
I cancelled Sky and went to Freesat in October last, but I do recall setting a PIN when I first took Sky, October '16. At setup, the service asked me to set a PIN and I did. It was a personal, easy number and I might have used it perhaps a dozen times.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Just recently in the last few weeks, Sky has started asking me for a pin when I playback Eastenders.
My parental controls are all off.
Any ideas?0 -

Try re-booting the box. Switch off at the mains, wait a few minutes and then switch back on again.
Out of interest, what time of day are you watching?0 -
