Here's a list of the toll roads in Florida:

This page has some information about how to pay tolls, and some other general hints regarding driving in Florida:

Depends where you're going - we recently hired through Sixt in Miami - we basically had to pay a daily charge to use their automated toll pass - $8 a day!! Wish I'd looked into this before as we actually only used the car though tolls on two days but had it for 10, as we were in Miami you had to use automated pass as tolls within Miami you can't pay cash and Sixt did not have the option to pay as you go - only to do the capped charge each day. Wish I'd booked another company.0

we are travelling to Florida & have a car hire through dollar. as their toll rate is extortionate & we are travelling to Miami for a few days I was looking at buying the transponder mini, but despite looking on the web & sunpass website I cant seem to find out if a uk resident can register it online. ive seen a few posts where people staying in villas have used there villa address and uk credit card but what if your staying in different hotels during your stay. If anyone has done this can they let me know.0

Plus $3.95 for any day you use a toll road.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Have a look here https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=226
You will be able to find out the costs for all the hire companies & whether it is better to pay as you go or drive through the automatic recognition booths.Going down the Oteley Road to see the Shrewsbury aces! :T0 -
It depends who you hire with... Dollar as mentioned above are a total rip off. Other's not so much so... I think Hertz who I used earlier in the year was a service charge of 5$ a day capped at 25$ for the entire rental plus the actual cost of the fees.
I decided paying around £20 was worth it due to the hassle and time spend messing round when I'd prefer just to enjoy my break. Also, if you venture down to Miami there are some tolls that are by plate only.. no cash option.
Up to you but if you avoid Dollar I think most are capped and it's just a lot easier and as I found on my first trip to Florida, if you're not sure where you're going it's easy to accidentally trip one anyway.0 -
The BEST OPTION by far is to buy the Sunpass Mini for a one off cost of $4.99, readily available from many stores eg Publix, CVS Navarro, Sedano, Walgreens etc. You then register the Transponder by phone to 1-888-865-5352 with the car's plate detail, sunpass ID, your name and CC number and load the card with $20.
After attaching the card to the Hired Car's front windscreen it is ready to use on the Turnpike roads and any other Tolls roads in Florida. It is cheaper than cash and many of the Toll Booths are now cashless and only accept Number plate recognition with the sunpass. If your credit drops to $10 it is automatically increased by another $10 debit from your credit card, so it is hassle free.
When you have completed your trip and hand back the car remember to remove the sunpass from the windscreen and phone the same number as before and any balance remaining on your account will be refunded direct to your credit card.
The toll roads are cheap, it only cost us $8.40 for our journeys from Miami to the Key West and back to Miami. IF you take a transponder off the hire car's company it will cost you a minimum of $3.95 per day plus tolls with an admin fees, its a rip off. It is essential IMHO as in the Miami area it is extremely difficult to avoid the Toll roads and if you accidentally go on one is will cost you at least $15 for every occasion - it doesn't make sense not to go the Sunpass Mini route , you will win hands down for sure.
BUY the Sunpass Mini and your troubles are over.0 -
