Erm.. thats not the same, its series 2 not a series 4, IMHO a lot inferior for not much less money. Same one on Boots is £329.

Oops, you're absolutely right. I blame the heat ;)

Getting a decent washing machine for under 300 is definitely possible, I agree with adsk and would say Zanussi is the way to go, that or Bosch if you find one for the price, you can sometimes get a great Bosch washing machine on sale for well under 300. John Lewis are always good for a sale!

We bought a Beko WX842430B a couple of years ago, and it's been fine. I did contemplate dropping 1k on a Miele, but suspect lifespan is really as much down to luck and usage as anything else.

    We paid £260.

    Hi guys

I need a new washing machine and haven't got a clue where to start... I've been researching online for a week and am even more confused now!!! Am hoping you fine people might share some of your knowledge.

Single guy, currently 1x white, 1x dark load a week plus towels or bedding etc as necessary. Assuming 7kg would be ok? My current old one doesn't say what size it is (bendix BIW105W 595mm wide). Budget of £300 max but if it's cheaper, all the better!!!

I'm not looking for cheap, but want the best quality one for the money. A smart one would be great as I'm fairly clueless about spin cycles and wash programs but might need a deal to be that lucky!!!

Not sure what else? White preferably. Front loading.

    Thanks in advance ;)

If you are a real bloke, you only need one programme. ;-)

I've just bought a Candy from Tesco for the princely sum of £263.20

    https://www.tesco.com/direct/candy-washing-machine-gvs1410dc3b-10kg-load-with-1400-rpm-white-with-chrome-door/522-6409.prd?action=acknowledgement

It replaces a more expensive Samsung one, whose drum bearing went kaput.

On the gadget front, apparently there's a phone app to control it!

The original post was in July last year,i pressume he has purchased one by now.
  • My Hotpoint washing machine recently died after 21 years of perfect operation. It filled from hot and cold taps. Now I understand they only fill from cold taps and I need to look around. I'm horrified to discover on here that modern machines don't last very long so I am wondering what to buy. I don't have a lot of money. £300 or thereabouts.

Zanussi gets my recommendation, but check the drum sizes, the one we have is quite a bit smaller than the Beko we had before. The Beko had better features, but did not wash as well and died after 3 years. I wouldn't by another Beko.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • I have just bought the above iron at great expense (£360). Even though it is brand new historically I always descale the soleplate after each use just to keep it in tip top shape and hopefully to extend the life. However, when following the instructions (emptying the water tank and adding water via the de-calc entrance) the iron thinks there is no water inside and so won't complete the task. Has anyone else had this problem. Philips seem at a loss to know why. I am now on my second iron and both do the same thing.
