Exchange Load?

Hello,
I was reading through the MSE guide when using your credit or debit card abroad. I notice it mentions "exchange load" and a percentage e.g. 2.75 or 3% for my particular cards. But it also says that there is no charge on spending.

So does the exchange load apply regardless of if you withdraw cash or if you just use it for purchases in a shop??

Yes it does, unless the card has no such 'loading'.
