Post Offices and Marks and Spencer debit cards

I understand Marks and Spencer's bank is part of the HSBC group. HSBC customers can use debit cards at Post Offices to withdraw cash but not Marks and Spencer customers. Seems a bit of an anomaly. Have tried suggesting a change of policy to Marks and Spencer banking customer services but no change as yet.

I know the M&S card works at the Post Office cash point here. I have not tried it in store.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Well of course it does, Post Office ATMs, run by Bank of Ireland, are part of the Link network so pretty much every card issued in the UK affiliated with either VISA or Mastercard will work. But it has no relevance to the OP's point (although I'm not really sure why it's on this board anyway, it seems more of a Vent than anything else).0 -

The Post Office website helpfully lists exactly which banking services it supports per banking brand at http://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-banking-services#tab-1 so, although there is sometimes an expectation of one-size-fits-all they do differentiate....I understand Marks and Spencer's bank is part of the HSBC group. If cash withdrawal at post office counters is important to you then there are many other banks that allow this, but unfortunately M&S isn't one of them!0 -
