buyer says havent received item

tammyfshr - thats good to hear
(again sorry for posting on your thread just seemed a very similar problem to yours).
frivolous - on paypal its says seller protection: eligible.
I was so worried as seller protection was on, address was confirmed, was sent recorded, heard nothing from buyer to say anything wrong and royal mail website confirms delivery, yet my account was still frozen - I was thinking what more could I do to protect myself
Not sure what the seller protection fully covers but its eligible so fingers crossed it works out ok. If the buyer really did not receive item then of course I would resend but she has not contacted me and messed me about like mad with payment initially etc so I am suspicious.
Thanks for advice - I hope its ok, I am one of lifes worriersSome People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0 -

Keep us posted - there's no reason why you shouldn't win the dispute, but if for some reason you don't... come back here and we'll gang up and pick a fight with paypal
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I think 70p for recorded delivery is worth paying. I just add it to the shipping and handling costs so that it is covered in the sale.
I send everything recorded as this prevents buyers from making false claims that they did not receive an item. 70p extra is worth it for the peace of mind.
You will never win a paypal dispute with a certificate of post.0 -
I agree with fay. recorded is not worth 70p as so many packages are never signed for. Up to £34 of value recorded is the same as standard mail, both enable a seller to claim from the RM in cases of loss with proof of postage.Assuming an average of 100 parcels a month I couldn't possible justify spending £70 for poor service, I do better just refunding and reclaiming from the RM and save myself £70 and my postage stays the same as my competitors and not 70p per item more.
Over £34 only special or a courier with full tracking and insurance should be used.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The problem with recorded is too many times post gets delivered without getting a signature & the post office do not seem to be bothered about this.
Trouble is if you enter the recorded tracking no info into a paypal dispute & there is no delivery confirmation, you will more than likely lose the dispute through no fault of your own.
Special Delivery is the only service that they will make sure about getting it signed.0 -
I send everything recorded. Never had one item go missing.
I used to send items unrecorded, I got the classic 'buyer did not receive item' line at least 3 times.
The last claim took 5-6 months to get processed. Buyer got refunded including postage. My refund did not include postage so I lost out.
70p extra saves me a lot of potential hassle.0 -
I have used recorded twice in the last few months, and neither were signed for. Just wasted my money but I was lucky to have dealt with honest people.
Afraid that's not going to always be the same so won't bother with this service again. Thanks for any help and advice given

The difference in price between Special and Recorded is fairly huge. I don't mind adding 70p extra to the P+P to protect myself but £4+ is far too much.I have used recorded twice in the last few months, and neither were signed for. Just wasted my money but I was lucky to have dealt with honest people.
Did you chase this up with Royal Mail as to why your 'Signed for' items were not getting signed? That has never happened to me and if it did I would seriously question it.0 -

It may act as a preventive measure to stop false claims, but if you had a dishonest buyer & they had a recorded envelope pushed through their door unsigned it would be easy to open a paypal dispute they know they would would win.
Really unfair but there are a lot of dodgy buyers out there.0 -

That would be a case of a dishonest buyer and a dishonest postie.
In all my years for selling I have never come across such posties as ones that don't bother to get a sig for a recorded item. Surely it should be a sackable offence. Not surprised Royal Mail are so T!tt$ up if this is happening on a regualar basis for some of you.0
