Jo, what lovely names. My DD (Laura) loved the book Phoebe Beeberbee and the 157 (I think) hot water bottles when she was little. I don't know if you'v seen it, I'm afraid it's fallen victim to the Health and Safety police because Phoebe puts out a fire with the water out of her bottles. It goes for hundreds on ebay and amazon now so I wish I'd kept our copy!
I have started the blood sugar diet this morning - I didn't have breakfast but had prawn cocktail (made with light mayo) tomatoes and a bit of avocado for lunch. Salad and chicken for dinner. I'm very cross with myself for letting my weight creep up the way it has and want to have a real go at getting down before I'm sixty next March.0 -
Hello everyone, second day here and I'm on a roll! Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so welcome.
Up early and out by 5.45 this morning for the gym. Showered and dried hair at work. Just staying here reading through all your posts instead of going out to the shops at lunch. Lunch is leftover pizza but it's just a cheese and tomato freezer one which is burned, so unfortunately not very exciting. Dousing it in Tabasco to jazz it up. Stayed away from the usual Diet Coke vending machine and will also try to stay away from the chocolates afterwards!
Will have to pop out to get stuff for dinner, I was thinking about vegetable enchiladas (a la my namesake) so I can have those for leftovers tomorrow, but dumpling has made me want mash and gravy, or should I have egg and chips a la Deleted_User?
camelot1001, your trip sounds incredible, hopefully I can save enough for a big holiday some day soon."I don’t keep up with the Joneses, I try to drag them down to my level" - Quentin Crisp0 -
Hello all
Just popped on to say I'm still about. and Hi to Enchilada .
Still feeling yuck with no energy and have lost about half a stone in weight, as I can't face food because it all tastes bitter.
Woke up this morning to find DGS here, he's poorly too ( he looks like he's got slapped cheek, but I could be wrong ) so he's one end of the sofa and I'm the other. There's nothing wrong with his appetite though because he's already had a large cooked breakfast and then chicken, veg and chips covered with gravy, for his lunch.
Sorry I haven't been keeping up with your news, tbh I haven't done much of anything. I have left DH be the captain of our ship for a few days. Hopefully I am on the mend although it's a very slow process, as this, whatever it is, has knocked me for six
Hugs to all those who need or want one.
Enjoy you day.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Hello all and welcome Enchilada,
Get well soon Nanny windows.
Having a CBA day, want togo visit DD4 later and do a bit of grocery shopping...... no veg needed as must use up the cabbage and cauliflower from the garden as the caterpillars and whitebutterflies are having a feast......some are beyond saving, which really makes my blood boil!
Took awalk around lowest part of the garden earlier and was disappointed to find not one apple on any of the 3 trees down there, about a dozen gooseberries, some not yet ripe redcurrants and no blackcurrants, its rather shaded, nothing I can do.
Chicken, steamed potatoes and cauliflower cheese for dinner, rhubarb something for pudding, depends on what I feel like making.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Just back from DD1s and thankfully the train had 3 carriages this time and was a 'proper' train with padded seats so it was a much more comfortable journey. Such a lovely week last week with DD2 and the grandsons and a really super weekend with DD1 and now I'm looking forward to just being domestic and at home for a couple of days doing things at a slower pace and processing the produce from all the plots etc.
Nice bacon chops for supper this evening from the freezer and some cabbage and potatoes, French beans and courgettes in various guises from the plots too, looking forward to that as well xxx.0 -
Evening all.
Contrary to all expectations and plans I'm now in Glasgow! I discovered, at about 2pm that DM's Infinity service is live tomorrow so the new 'smart' hub has to be installed. She's got an old hub 2 which chugs along.
Got my new tyre sorted with the only pain hitting my purse!
I had a slow drive down here. There were about 10 little soft top old cars tip-tapping towards Glasgow, all with overseas plates. Not so bad but the exhausts fumes from them were awful so I couldn't open my windows. And then my sneaky route around Great Western Road (to avoid rush hour and bus lanes) was closed by police. People were climbing into white forensics suits so I assume a murder / nasty stuff.
Anyway, I'm here. DM's on the phone, once she's finished I'll install the router so that it's done ready for the switch over.
Nanny-widow I really hope you get back on your feet soon. Can you at least sip some soup to keep your strength up?

Evening.
Well today I can easily rate as bloody awful...work wise that is, as well as some unsettling personal stuff too
Really fed up with it all tbh..my job should not be this stressful and the problems are caused by others rather than the actual work.
I've had a splitting headache since about 10am this morning and spent the day just wanting to crawl under a rock!
Oh well.. more headache tablets taken and a shower and my pj's beckon.
Let's see what tomorrow brings?
Hope you feel better soon Nannywindow x
dumpling aka Jo I agree your 3 girls have lovely names
Nelski hope you survived Tesco with Mother!
Judi hope things went ok with prodigal.
I hope you all have a peaceful evening x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
