Morning everyone,
Thank you for starting us off Jackie
I managed to get most of my outhouse door rubbed down yesterday. Hopefully I will get that finished today and then it’s just a matter of waiting until there is no rain forecast for a few days before I have another go at painting it.
I also managed to get all of the housework done that I wanted to.
This morning I need to go and drop some things off at the CS. It is stuff that I sorted a while back and it has been in the cupboard for a while. I keep forgetting it when I go up to the town.
Judi I’m sorry that you are having problems with prodigal again.
Silver- Oldie and husband glad you had a good time celebrating your ruby wedding anniversary yesterday, and enjoy your celebratory meal today.
Enchilada welcome, this is a really friendly ‘place’ to be.
Hester I hope that the dizziness soon abates.
I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning All
Welcome Enchilada!
Happy Anniversary for yesterday Silver Oldie, have a good celebration today too.
Bad news on the puncture Gers, at least you weren't driving.
Sounds like you've had a lovely couple of weeks Mrs LW.
First day of the holidays (weekends don't count!) and I woke up at 6, typical. Still, I have quite a lot to do today and the weather is quite bright at the moment so I may be able to get to the allotment and tidy the garden here.
I booked my big trip to Malaysia on Saturday so have spent most of the weekend looking for accommodation, very time consuming and frustrating. Every time I see somewhere I like the look of the reviews aren't too good. Anyway, Christmas will be in Langkawi, then Penang, I've yet to sort the rest.
Hope you all have a good Monday, enjoy your trip away TAs. Hope to hear from you soon LW. Take care. XX0 -

I was driving! I hit a pothole on the single track drive, luckily I was only about 300 yards from home. I watched the tyre pressure monitor readout change from 32 to 20. Then, when I drove the car the 100 yards to the farmer's shed it went down from 20 to 1 very quickly!
Seems that the mechanics at the main dealer had swapped over the TPMS things so the reading was telling me the driver side tyre was the problem when it was, in fact, the passenger side. We were confused for about 2 minutes.camelot1001 wrote: »I booked my big trip to Malaysia on Saturday so have spent most of the weekend looking for accommodation, very time consuming and frustrating. :j:j How exciting! You're very adventurous indeed. I only managed a weekend in KL when I was in Perth WA.
Reviews are always a difficult thing to judge places on, some people delight in writing negative reports for the smallest thing. Good luck in the search.0 -
Morning everyone,
Think I will have to be drummed out of the wide awake club as, for the first time in ages, I slept right through to 7am :j
Think if your neighbours come round Redruby it should be to apologise!
Your trip sounds amazing Camelot
Not a bad day here at all, am off into BuryStEd to do a wee bit of shopping, desperately need a couple of new bras and have a voucher from Mr Sparks so will have a look, underwear seems to be all that I buy from there nowadays, that and food when it's reduced
I will also be doing my monthly banking and moving a bit of money around, am working hard to reduce our food budget without compromising on quality, finished £30 down in June so am pleased with progress.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all,
Hester - (from Friday) I'm another who didn't know what depression cake is but by jings it looks good.
I had a nice weekend in which I didn't do anything too strenuous. I bought some more things for the flat from Ikea, so slowly but surely it's beginning to feel more and more homely. I made Rollo Cupcakes and then finished my ironing on Saturday night. Totally not living up to the stereotypical 26 year old male bachelor pad type.
No plans for this evening. I might go a run, in fact I probably will. I also need to go to the SM as I didn't get an opportunity yesterday.
Hope everyone has a lovely Monday and a very happy July
Silver- Oldie - A belated happy anniversary
camelot - Happy holidays. I read a study that said it's the booking and subsequent anticipation of a holiday which improves peoples mood more than the actual holiday!0 -
Morning
wow so many early birds today
Jackie you sound so proud of your family they are lucky to have you
Karcher chin up matey the sun is going to be shining apparently and at the end of of today it will only be 4 days to the weekend.
TA sorry about your neighbour ..I know you are close. Its awful that the house has to be sold. Hope you will be able to get to visit
Silver oldie Happy anniversary enjoy your special day and meal out
Had a nice weekend enjoying the sun and drinking wine with a good friend. Felt relaxed for the first time in months which I needed
Back to normal stress levels today though... taking mum to Tesco for a change which she is kicking against because she doesn't know where anything is ......how hard can it be to find bananasThe main reason though is to have a look for some jeans for her...the ones she has are literally falling off her now. Would much have preferred Asda or Marks and Spencer for the jeans but baby steps they are too both far away according to mum. We also had to go through the stroppy tantrum last night because she doesn't like going on a Monday they are not ready :rotfl: Anyway I feel like I haven't had that chilled weekend at all but hey ho.
Have a great monday everyone0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a dry but cloudy day today so I have the windows open to change the air inside as it felt a bit stuffy. DD17 (Phoebe) and DD14 (Becky) have left for school and DD16 (Lillian) is still fast asleep. I am a bit tired of writing DD's down by age so I will be calling them by their proper names from now on. I am Jo :wave:and my lovely hubby is Steve.
Now that is out of the way, my day is looking to be quite nice. Becky has her therapist arriving this afternoon, hopefully there will be no more bombshells and she will just get on with helping Becky cope with things. She has had a fairly good few days aside from a little blip yesterday. I think it was more that she was being a teenager rather than her psychosis as she ended up back chatting us because she didn't want to do her chores.
I went out on Saturday to Barnstaple shopping with Phoebe and Becky. Lilly was working or I would have taken her too. I spent a fortune on school shoes but they both had worn them through and they both had holes in the sole so it was a need rather than a want. They both have size 9 feet as well so their choice was rather limited. We went into Primark then and I bought them some jeans. tops and pyjamas which also cost over £100 but at least they have some nice clothes now. I didn't forget Lilly and bought her some pj's too and I will take her out next month for a Ladies Day Out.
My mouth is still really sore unfortunately so I am still on a soft diet. I am making sausage and mustard tagliatelle for Steve and myself and the girls will have tuna pasta bake. Steve made me mash and veg yesterday with loads of gravy so that was nice but I did feel a bit jealous watching everyone tuck into their roast dinner.
Managed to catch up with all the washing yesterday so I can concentrate on cleaning the house now. I bought some new microfibre cloths at a bargain price so I will try them out today. The bathroom needs a good scrub so that is where I will start. I have also bought some fly screen for Becky's window so she can have the window open without all the moths and other bugs coming in for a visit. I will have a go at fitting it when she comes home.
Well, that's all from me for now, welcome to enchilada, hope you enjoy it here x
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
We have new neighbours, they are not happy as they think we moved their boat, they were in the wrong place and it was the marina manager who moved them.
I am waiting for the usual barage of phone calls, texts, Whatsapp messages from hubby... the general gist of it is "I dont want to be here".It's a dry but cloudy day today so I have the windows open to change the air inside as it felt a bit stuffy. DD17 (Phoebe) and DD14 (Becky) have left for school and DD16 (Lillian) is still fast asleep. I am a bit tired of writing DD's down by age so I will be calling them by their proper names from now on. Jo, your daughters have lovely names.
I did have one breakthrough yesterday. Ive been nagging hubby to sort his shed out for months. Well after he couldnt find something that is in there on Saturday he decided to have a sort out. I now have a trailer full of junk i can dispose of at my leisure.
I ask you, how many hard hats does a man need? I lost count at 15! He got bored by the time he got to the left hand back corner so gave up..... but I'm not complaining. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Brightish morning so bath towels on the line, fingers crossed they dry.
Started the Monday clean, decided as the sun was not shining on the front windows I would clean them, so all sparkly now. I really hate cleaning the wet room floor, we have very hard water so we get water marks which are not easy to get off, I am damned if I am going to mop the thing everyday!! JCBA.
Have almost finished quilting the cushion cover, rand P this morning and arranged to pick her up on Thursday to go to Aldi.
OH has been weed kittling this morning, I had to sort out the mixture for him, He sprayed the ground at the back of the shed, I am planning on putting weed suppressant down when we put the new shed up. It will then get covered with bark chippings and used for pot storage.
Egg and chips tonight, I did the freezer audit yesterday ready to go to Aldi on Thursday, do not need much meat this time and we are out a couple of Sundays which helps.
Last night was the first night for months I have not had to get up to the loo. I have started taking my BP pills in the morning instead of at night, will see what happens tonight. It drives me scatty having to get up, it takes me ages to get back to sleep and sometimes I never get back.
Library van due this afternoon, hope they have had a change of books, the selection is very limited. I have started using borrowbox and reading books on my IPad, I usually run out of library books after 2 weeks and the van only comes on the first Monday of the month. Have also down loaded it for OH too.
Right onwards, I need to shove the Dyson over the bedroom and hall carpet.........0 -
Happy Anniversary silver oldie!
Enchilada, I am not sure if I said hello, so here I am, doing so and if I did remember, you have two welcomes from me.
I have risen to the dizzy heights of hard boiling an egg for a sandwich at lunchtime and am defrosting some minced meat to make meatballs later.
I've also knitted the pieces for a sheep and two lambs.
Oh yes, my life IS exciting.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
