I think about £15 a month, averaged out? My hair is very fine and dry so I use Tresemme Salon Smooth on it. I went through a phase of trying cheaper brands but they mostly made my hair very frizzy and full of static, so I look at it as a compromise - it's a slightly more expensive shampoo and conditioner, but using it means I don't need additional oils to tame the flyaways!

I'm currently using a Tresemme shampoo and have decanted it into a pump bottle that used to have liquid soap in it. I find two squirts for the first wash and one squirt for the second wash is more than enough and so my 900ml bottle has lasted me probably well over year and probably have a good six months left :)

heheh! on reading it back though, i sound like a right ungreatful mare

it's ongoing for years. We just say look, there's no presents going in or out of the house. If you want to make memories with us, let's hang over tea and cake. I hate that everything becomes an expensive occasion where people spend money they don't have. Someone bought me a beautiful gift, then told me it made them overdrawn and get a bank charge. Well, that upset me. So this way it's great . We do birthdays but not christmas. And mothers day etc.

Consumerism as a whole (ie everything must be top quality and expensive to be any use or good) just makes me sad. I'm a big old hippy at heart.

Anyway, does anyone know is there a thread on make up tutorials? i can't find any but might not be using the right keyword.

i got a load of new make up and am trying my best but would love a good smoky eye video to follow in real time

I know youtube is supposed to be good for tutorials but can't recommend any make up ones as I don't wear it myself :)

Shampoo - Vosene (£1 poundshops) - have fine, thin hair so love that "squeeky clean"

I love vosene too. Theres nothing like a cheap clarifying shampoo to get your hair clean. I use it occasionally if my hair is looking a bit flat.

I use quite expensive products, I guess - mostly Liz Earle skincare and Bumble and Bumble hair products. They do last a good long time though. In the summer I use an SPF moisturizer from Green People instead of LE. For shower gel I just use Dr Bronner's liquid almond soap, which I dilute a little as it's very concentrated. When I'm feeling it is too extravagant to splash out on LE's 'cleanse and polish' I use Dr Bronner's on my face too. My normally sensitive skin seems to cope with it fine. I use Dove deodorant in the summer and a natural crystal one in the winter - everything else I've tried gives me excema. I haven't bought any make up for over 3 years! I still have lots of Liz Earle mineral make up left over from when I was working full-time and had more disposable income. I hardly ever wear it - I guess the tinted moisteuriser and mascara ought to be thrown away really. I've two Liz Earle perfumes that I wear occasionally too - again purchases years ago when I had more money. :)

The stuff I use is a bit mixed- I have very sensitive skin, allergies and psoriasis as well as alopecia so if I find something that suits- I stick fast regardless of cost!
Deodorant- Nivea Pearl and Beauty is the only one that works for me. I do however try to buy it when it's on offer.
Body spray- Jack Wills. I bought 30 bottles of the stuff at Christmas (in the sale :D) as that's the only time it comes out and even after giving some to my step niece I still have about twenty bottles left :rotfl:
Shower gel: is usually L'Occitane or the Body Shop Mango but if I'm poor I go to Superdrug and buy some Palmolive or the Imperial Leather Marshmallows stuff and get my student discount :D
Shampoo: when I have hair (not always!) I use some Lee Stafford stuff, can't remember what it's called but it says 'for hair that doesn't grow' It's £7 a bottle but it's like a bottled miracle and makes my hair grow back in quite quick.
Razors- an electric one mum got me last Xmas
Perfume- I have expensive tastes unfortunately- Angel, Viva La Juicy and Poison Girl. Poison Girl is £45 a bottle and I go through one every few months :o
Make up- my foundation is YouNique and was a freebie. I have a lot of BeneFit eye makeup but they I find are the best when I have no eyebrows. My lippies range from L'Oreal (present) to Boots Number 7 although my fave is BeneFit again. I'm not fussy as such though- I'll use whatever I'm not allergic to :)

Lots of really interesting stuff here :D

I have both cheap and expensive products

My skin care is Liz Earle and I buy direct and get lots of freebies as a regular customer. My favourite is the shampoo which is gorgeous, makes my hair feel like velvet

I also use LE tinted moisturiser, I have 2 lots, both freebies

I don't wear mascara or eyebrow stuff as my eyebrows and lashes are very sparse

I love good quality eyeliner and got 2 Rodial liners, one black and one brown, on the front of a magazine once. On their website they are £18 each:T

My biggest extravagance is handcream and nail varnish. If I am feeling flush I'll buy L'Occitane but my current favourite is M & S flower scented handcream, smells lovely and is £2 a tube.

I get lots of nail varnishes from the Beauty Outlet shop in Atlantic Village in North Devon. They sell over 500 different varnishes, really cheap and have lots of good brands such as O.P.I and Leighton Denny

Finally, when I get to a TKMaxx they have lots of toiletries/make up at silly money
  • I tend to now stick to a simple beauty product range which includes the body shop tea tree exfoliator and this lovely argan oil I discovered recently by Maison d'argan. All in all about £30-40 every 2-3 months..

Oh and of course about £50 on makeup and lipsticks and so forth every 6 months.
  • I do wear makeup but tend not to spend huge amounts on it, I normally buy the things I use from a drugstore so like boots or superdrug. For facial cleansers and moisturisers etc, I do spend a little bit more. There are some good cheap face products that I like such as the simple collection but I prefer to use something a little more expensive for a facial wash, just because it suits my skin more.
I do mix and match and try to test new products to see which one I prefer though.

A small fortune! I genuinely feel genetically unlucky in many ways.

    Skincare: 400 p/a
    Haircare: 220 p/a (inc haircuts)
    Make-up: 140 p/a
Body, teeth, nails etc...: 120 p/a

I'm not fussed by brand or anything, I'll pay for what works. I indulge in skincare because I have some issues in that regard.

I am embarrassed by how much I spend, and I don't look like I spend as much as I do.
Debt free (finally) and saving a deposit for my first home.

Hardly anything at all. I will buy a cheap moisturiser type product from a. Pound shop and a cheap lipstick from Boots which lasts me years as I rarely wear make up. I have a drawer full of rarely used perfumes (all gifts) which I really should leave out on view to remind me to use them up.
