It is the superbalanced. I feel the same, it does last well and applies really well, giving a good coverage without being too heavy, but the thrifter in me feels conned at the glass bottle (I love to cut open my tubes and get the dregs out lol). Funny, I did have the boots no7 but felt it was a little chalky. Currently have a maybelline one (had a boots gift voucher) and it's really chalky (but I'm persisting with it cause i'll be damned if I'm wasting it lol. So I think some boots vouchers for christmas and I'll head into the big boots in the city and get my clinique again.
Only thing is the Superbalanced doesn't have an SPF (the original one) but when its hot I mix it with sunscreen and it acts like a tinted moisturiser. In winter I don't know which moisturiser to use with it as the one I have for day to day has no SPF. I guess we never worried about this at one time. I also like Clinique eyeliner and lipstick but if I buy the whole lot then I'll cut down on skincare.0 -
I use a Salt of the Earth crystal deodorant which seems to cost about £2 a year, if that. Occasionally if the weather is really hot and I am driving in my very hot little car I will use a Mitchum or similar. I buy almost all my toiletries at car boot sales and have absolutely masses. I can often buy something like foot cream which would cost about £9 for 20p, fabulous soaps for pence. I have drawers full of them so it has become something of an obsession and I have had to stop. One of the traders at the CBS has had loads of good quality shampoo and conditioner which literally fell of a lorry and had to be recovered to clear the road. She has been selling them at 3 for £1 and I am still on the first one after a couple of months. Tresemme also comes up frequently because people buy the wrong ones. There is nothing I lack and I have probably enough for a few years.
The only things I buy from new are toothpaste and mouthwash, both the top of the range types. Once a year I will buy perfume abroad so in total I would estimate £10 a month for all this kind of expenditure. Makeup although a few years old, is hardly used in any case these days.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

As this has dropped down the Old Style board, i've moved it to Health and Beauty as you will get lots more input here.
Everyone has different price points and priorities (and definitions of what's worth spending money on) so this thread is for discussion and not judgement.
My Mum is obsessed with expensive toiletries and buys me a lot of brands and designer things (Elemis, Liz earle, etc) despite me asking her not toI do use the products she buys me. The only thing I choose to fork out on (for me) would be my hair which is one trip a year @ £90 a visit. That's for full head of colour and a very special haircut lol. I have had the same hairdresser for 24 years and he spends hours cutting my hair and styling. It's styled before i leave (curlers eg) . I have waist length hair and in between this I henna it myself (:eek::eek:) with great difficulty which costs £3 a go 4 times a year. That's two packs of henna at 99p each and a £1 bottle of conditioner to mix with it. I don't use hair products beyond washing once a week so shampoo and conditioner lasts months. This is to preserve the colour and condition.
I have just treated myself to some Mac make up as a gift to myself as I've been unwell. I got a lesson etc so it's all sitting in the bag waiting for me to try it out. I'm a bit scared :rotfl:
I don't wear make up daily, only for special occasions.
I've no idea how much I spend in total but it is the minimum such as £1 shwer gel and £1 deodorant etc. I have such a stock from my Mum that i don't really need to buy many toiletries.

I spend most of my disposable income on beauty products
I only buy cruelty free and mostly premium brands. I tried doing some comps on here for beauty stuff and won over £500 of amazing things from cultbeauty that I could never afford.

Not that much.
Shampoo and conditioner is SP but I buy a litre at a time from ebay which lasts well over a year. Anything else makes my scalp itch.
Face - I like Olay daily moisturiser with SPF 30 as I have sun damage on my face but they have discontinued it so not sure what I will use next.
I wear makeup about twice a year - I have a nice Clinique foundation I bought in the US which came with masses of free gifts. That will dry up before I finish it - probably after about another 5 years.
I did get the M&S beauty advent calendar last year so those products will see me through for some time.
I don't like perfume and any old shower gel will do.
What does SP mean?0 -

I buy my daughter Elemis & Liz Earle, but I know you're not her, my daughter loves the expensive products I buy her!0 -
I bought some lookfabulousforever makeup to wear on holiday in London last week and didn't even open it. I only bought it as I thought I should wear makeup :pSo it will be offered to friends and if they don't want it will go on freegle.
I don't use soap on my face just warm not hot water. I use Waitrose essential shower gel the sensitive skin one which is clear and only £1 and also their essential deodorant. I have very sensitive skin and use My Trusty creams from Salisbury hospital which they developed for eczema and for healing burns. Shampoo is a Boots cheapie and don't use conditioner. I don't dye my hair and cut it myself. It's about shoulder length and dead straight and looks as though I have expensive streaks added:rotfl:grey ones haha.
I love perfume and wear it every day. Harrods had a perfume day last Sunday half price then an extra 20% off and they also gave me 2 Clinique gifts with lots of little bits in which will go to my niece for her girls when I see her.I stay in the north of Scotland about 12 degrees today and rainy and loved the heat in London last week. It was so warm I had no aching joints which was wonderful.
I agree with greyqueen about eating healthy foods. I popped out to the garden and picked rasps and strawberries and blackcurrants for breakfast this morning. Lunch will be lots of homegrown salad bits.0 -

I'm loving the mac make up. Getting braver and braver (and making many mistakes in the process) .A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

We've opted out of christmas presents for about four years now just to save fortunes being spent. So that's where I'm coming from . I very much love and appreciate them, no one can argue with Liz Earle! I just don't expect them from her if that makes sense. It breaks my heart as I know she can't afford these expensive gifts xx:o It truly does.

I didn't think that - I just thought it was funny :-)0 -
heheh! on reading it back though, i sound like a right ungreatful mare
it's ongoing for years. We just say look, there's no presents going in or out of the house. If you want to make memories with us, let's hang over tea and cake. I hate that everything becomes an expensive occasion where people spend money they don't have. Someone bought me a beautiful gift, then told me it made them overdrawn and get a bank charge. Well, that upset me. So this way it's great . We do birthdays but not christmas. And mothers day etc.
Consumerism as a whole (ie everything must be top quality and expensive to be any use or good) just makes me sad. I'm a big old hippy at heart.
Anyway, does anyone know is there a thread on make up tutorials? i can't find any but might not be using the right keyword.
i got a load of new make up and am trying my best but would love a good smoky eye video to follow in real timeA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
