I've put this on here rather than Health and Beauty because its about money saving.
How much do you spend on beauty products, including make up, skin care, body care etc. Do you think quality matters more than quantity?
I have a mixture of stuff, some good quality, some just mid price but I don't have tons and tons of make up, just the basics, I do wear make up every day though, same with toiletries, just the basics.
I do suffer with eczema so have to be careful what I use. I do buy hair products from the salon and like Liz Earle cleanser for my face.

Burger all, frankly, and many people are decidedly cross that I look ten years younger than my actual age which is early fifties.
The differnce between cheap toiletries/ cosmetics and expensive toiletries/ cosmetics is the amount of hype in the advertising. I use a Faith in Nature crystal deodorant, vaseline lip balm, a vaseline-based handcream by cotton tree - £1 for a large tube - and shampoo from the supermarket, about 39p for 300 ml.

Next to B****r all - use soap, which is L'Occitane, which I get for birthdays and Xmas.
Moisturiser and Mascara is from Aldi, L'Oreal lip gloss (again Birthday/Xmas)
Most makeup makes my face blow up like a balloon so less is more as they sayNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
£1.50. On razors.0

My spending on toiletries is well under £10 a year and I never wear make-up. I think I look perfectly fine, but then, I prefer the cosmetic-free face on friends and acquaintances, too.
Soap and water I my go-to product.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

£2/year for shampoo.
£1/year for body gel stuff
£2/year bubble bath
£1/year deodorant
£2/year perfume
£20/year tooth related stuff
And if I'm feeling reckless.... maybe £1 for an eye liner or mascara once every 3-5 years.0 -
I never wear makeup, I do buy some nice shower gels when on offer, is deodorant an essential or a beauty product? I do buy that.
I dye my own hair that's £5 every two months.
So I would suggest a lot less than £10 per month.
My daughter goes through a bottle of foundation every month, a bottle of perfume as well as numerous hair products. I would guess her outlay to be about £30.0 -
Shampoo......Zero
Conditioner....don't use
Soap/Shower gel....zero
Moisturiser ....zero
The 'zeroes' are because I get these items on prescription...I have various skin conditions and a few years ago my skin-specialist told me to stop using the over-the-counter stuff.
Deo....none (never seem to need it!!!)
Make-up....well, no cleanser (I use the soapless gunk on prescription)...no toner (I use water!)....no moisturiser.....no foundations...no blushers...no eyeshadow/liner/mascara
However....I DO wear lipstick!....generally I have a couple of colours...a soft pink and a light brown....I 'treat' myself to a mid-price one
Toothpaste....sensitive type, whatever is on offer
Lady-Razors ...(whatever is on offer)
I have no idea if it is down to my lack of make-up clogging up my pores....or just down to the luck of some good family genes....but I look a good decade or o younger than I am...and only a year or so ago was chuffed when someone queried my age (I live in sheltered accommodation - minimum age is 60...I was on of a few exceptions and moved in at 55) - they thought I was mid/late 30s!!!!0 -
I don't spend much on skincare products (I too have v sensitive skin and have to be careful what I use). I recently discovered something called a Magic Makeup Remover cloth, which is a fluffy kind of microfibre affair which you soak in warm water, wring out, and use it to remove your makeup. It works amazingly well even on mascara, no idea how it does it. For moisturiser I use Astral, and a big tub costs about £4 and lasts several months.
I wear makeup, but have discovered that the expensive stuff isn't necessarily any better than cheaper makes. Aldi do a fab mascara, and over the summer I have been using a tinted moisturiser from Natural Collection instead of heavier foundation, which is only £2. My favourite nail polishes are the gel look ones from Poundworld!
My favourite perfumes are pricey though, but I'm usually lucky enough to get replacements at Christmas or birthdays0 -
Very very little tbh
I'm allergic to so much that messing around trying stuff will just make my skin erupt
I buy head and shoulders shampoo. Wrecks the condition of my hair but it's the only thing that keeps my seb dermatitis under control
My ones expense is Liz Earle moisturiser for combi skin. Not cheap but for my skin, worth it's weight in gold
Other then that I use an epilator and tweezers for hair removal
Cocanut oil for conditioner and body butter
And mineral make up. Not cheap but a £14 foundation will last 2 years and a blusher, well I've some here that are over 10 years old or more
I get eyebrows done around 4 times a year at £4 a time and keep them going as long as I can myself
I do my own manicures ( I'm pretty nifty at those). So a few pound a year as I've at least 100 bottles of varnish0 -
I thought not very much but reading these responses make me think that mightn't be the case!
Shampoo, conditioner, unscented soap, moisturiser and deodorant all from Lidl.
I'll buy MaxFactor mascara when on three for two and they seem to last me ages, even though I wear makeup every day.
Foundation, I'm afraid I fork out on MAC, but I have found it I don't have to use nearly as much as high street equivalents, and also the finish is so much nicer. Once in a while I'll try and 'down brand' but always end up going back.
Blusher, eye liner, powder etc etc I'm not really fussed about - will buy from Lidl. Seem to last forever anyway.
I never pay for foundation as once a year my MIL buys me a John Lewis voucher so I stock up then. I sneak everything else into our £160 a month shopping budget as most of it is bought in Lidl for pennies.0
