O/S Daily Sunday 2 July 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light but broken cloud, sun is trying to break through, yesterday was a very dull cloudy start but got out to be a lovely day, hope today will be the same.

DH and myself up enjoying first peaceful cuppas, both boys in their pits, DS1 was out last night until the early hours so hasn't been in bed very long, he'll surface at some point later.

Dinner last night was a cheeky takeaway, a new one has been opened in our village and very nice it was too, but we really don't have them very often now, so expensive and we enjoy them so much more when they are a "treat". Lunch today will be roast chicken, stuffing, roasties, new pots, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, peas, yorkshires and gravy.

Yesterday we visited both sets of parents, and then spent some time planting the bits they gave us, we'll see how they go or if we manage to kill the seedlings! I also managed to get another line full of washing line dried and also all the bed linen from our bed. I'll be organising pack ups once lunch is prepped and cooking, and chilling this afternoon before going back to work tomorrow.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I'm up, the washing machine is doing its thing, noisy birds are yelling their heads off, I mean singing nicely.
Today I need to change the bedlinen, having failed to get round to it so far. Other than that, and making a meal, no real plans.

Mrs Lurcher Walker, did you go to the WNO performance of Madame Butterfly? I was there on Thursday and really enjoyed it.

Hope everyone has a good day

Morning everyone, thanks for the start nmlc.

Up early this morning, dogs have been fed, walked and are now snoozing in baskets, bird feeders are full and am now enjoying first cuppa of the day.
We don't have many apples on the tree, think those late frosts did for them, but what we do have are starting to change colour, time marches away.
Not too much planned for today, usual morning of bacon butties and the Archers omnibus, then I want to have a general tidy up in the garden as the weeds are growing just as fast as the plants. Lunch will be roast chicken and lots of veg followed by strawberries with a choice of yoghurt or ice-cream.
Have a good day folks x
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Sun is shining, washer has almost finished, should get everything dry.

Once OH wakes up we will have our usual Sunday brekkie, no real plans for the rest of the day. I finished quilting the table mats, cut out and almost quilted a shabby chic cushion cover, might get that finished today, will see how I feel.

So tired last night I came to bed and read for a while, slept ok, would be much better if I did not have to get up for a wee in the small hours.

OH bowling this afternoon, looks like it might be a warm afternoon, not as hot as it has been though. No supper to cook.........

Morning all, bright and sunny here, as forecast yesterday brightened up and became very warm. I did some gardening and a couple of social things as planned, but got very tired (fatigue/low energy illness), so need to take it easier today, perhaps try the 15 minute trick of bursts of activity followed by rests, I can get a lot done this way.

I have quite a lot of plants which need planting while the soil is still damp, but it is so hard on my wrists, reminder to self to look out wrist supports!

DOH is off cycling this morning so dear dog and I get some girl time:D which means that she will look benignly at me while I witter on to her and then plague me with the toy of the moment for games.

    Morning everyone,

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Jackie and silver-oldie thank you for your suggestions re rollers to use for painting my outhouse door. I bought one yesterday when I was out. First, I need to rub it down before I can have another go at painting it. I am hoping to get that done today. I will probably leave painting it for a few days because rain is forecast intermittently for the next few days.

I want to have a good clean through today because I have an appointment every day next week and I don’t want to be worrying about fitting in the cleaning as well. At least I’m up to date on the washing, so one less thing to worry about.

Other than that I quite fancy a fairly lazy day. I can’t see me being very productive today.

I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.

Morning folks. Wall to wall blue sky here but that dratted wind that got up yesterday is still with us. At least it dried the washing in record time so a small bonus. No washing to do today -unless I go looking for it!

I don't know what happened last night but I didn't waken up this morning until 7.30!! That's an all time record for me! Although I was up a couple of times through the night for the loo!

No fixed plans for today but I really must do some weeding if I CBA as they are rampant just now. I don't think the sleep in has done me any good, in fact I feel more tired for it. A second coffee may perk me up.

My Sparks' vouchers were put to good use in M & S yesterday. I got £19.70's worth of food for £11 so chuffed about that as I treat us to some lovely stuff I wouldn't usually fork out on! Now safely stowed away in the freezer.

Not bothering with a roast again today. Some chicken breasts defrosting for lunch, which I shall cook topped with bacon in a cheesy sauce. Accompanied by a mixed salad and roasted baby potatoes I think.

Have a good day folks and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. Take care all xx

Good Morning everyone and thanks for starting us off nmlc. well quite a busy day yesterday and today is going to be a more relaxing one :).

Lovely to see DGS Ben after his term away at Uni, and also eldest DD who came for brunch and a natter(she also put up some light bulbs for me ,I have high ceilings in my house, and standing on a chair isn't a good idea when you are as ancient as I am :):):))

I also got a wash done ,I did the sofa throw, which is two throws machined together, so it fills the washing machine up :) all dried and back on the sofa again.Lovely drying day in the afternoon with a slight breeze and quite warm.

Then spent the rest of the day knitting, and watching catch-ups of Versailles on TV :) As saucy as that is at times, I do enjoy it as the young man who plays Louis 14th is such a good actor and the series is very good I still have another 5 episodes to watch (its my secret treat)

This morning I shall have breakfast then do my menus for the week, and listen to my weekly dose of The Archers while prepping my veg for the next few days, mainly peeling spuds and carrots to put in bowls of water in the fridge.

I have a head of celery which I intend to turn into my soup of the week this morning towards this weeks lunches.I like to add some paprika to it to spice it up a bit :) I do enjoy spicy food. then late afternoon I shall be off to Dds bearing a HM victoria sponge cake for my DGS to devour.

The weather has brightened up a bit as there was a little overnight rain ,but the sun has just come out and I can see the River Medway clearly from the window in the distance (always a sign of good weather )

Hope everyone has a good day and the sun shines down on you all at some point today

    Cheers chums

    Morning All

It was quite bright when I got up but it's getting darker by the minute. Played hokey cokey with the washing yesterday and managed to get most of it dry, just a couple of things on the pulley now to air off.

So far this morning I've sorted some travel things (check ins, etc), changed a light bulb and made a list of things to do before I go away. Top of the list is to do the housework, it's always nice to come back to a clean and tidy house.

Not got anything planned today apart from someone calling to pick up my old table and chairs, the money will be handy for the holidays!

Have a happy Sunday everyone, take care. XX

    Good morning
Thank you for the thread nmlc.
It's our Wedding Anniversary today, so plan to do as little as possible.
We were going out for a meal but don't do noisy or busy so thought we would go out tomorrow when it should be quiet , without mother :D
It's pouring with rain so probably a good call.
So today we are having a favourite, roast lamb.
Will sit in the garden if the rain stops or just sit and share a box of chocolates.
hope you all have a good day.
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
