Recently bought used car with issues

Hi, I recently bought a used Toyota from a main Toyota Dealer. The car is approved used and comes with a 1yrs Toyota backed warranty.
I only bought this car on Tuesday and have such used it to drive back home with it and a few other journeys.
I'm very disappointed that the car is showing a fair amount of corrosion, I didn't pick up on this when I collected the car as it's on the inner wheelarch.
I also noticed to day that the Air/Con doesn't work it just blows hot hair when set to low.
I thought buying an approved used car would be better for the warranty.
I'm really not happy with this car that ive had less than a week. What are my rights as the car isn't right it has a fault and bad corrosion. Is there a window of opportunity to return a car?

How old is the car? A used car isn't going to be perfect, whether you buy it from a main dealer or a man in the pub.

How did you notice the corrosion?

I dont think theres enough there for you to be able to reject the car.

The air con should work - if its not then the dealer should sort that.

The corrosion? Where is it precisely and what age is the car? It would be worth having the dealer look and getting them to repair it.

The corrosion is to one of the wheel arches, the car supposedly has 12yr anti perforation warranty.
I know it's not uncommon to find some corrosion on a car, especially underneath, but I think for a used Toyota at a main dealership, the bodywork should at least be free of rust.
I noticed the corrosion when I was cleaning the car,its on the inner lip.
I paid £8500 and the car is 2010 with 60k on the clock.
Seems like the dealership isn't very thorough when pushing out these so called approved used cars.

Have you got any paper work that specifies a list of standards their "approved used" cars should meet? Whenever I've seen adverts for this kind of thing before there's always talk about "our 150 item checklist" and that kind of thing.

Definitely think you should ask aircon to be fixed. Wheel arch corrosion on a 7 year old car is probably harder to argue though.

EDIT: A quick google came up with this: https://usedcars.toyota.co.uk/en/program_benefits

Is it this "Toyota PLUS" scheme that you bought the car under? That page makes clear what is checked and what is excluded.

It was advertised on Auto Trader as Toyota Approved used, but none of my paperwork substantiates this. I have a sales invoice with part ex details and showing it has a warranty.

They should fix the AC, but the rust they could say was obvious and was up to you. Have you asked them?

Having had a battle previously with Renault over aircon not working on a used dealership car, all I can say is make sure they fix it a their expense!

Get the whole aircon system leak tested then if there are any leaks make sure they fix it! Some of the parts are NOT cheap!!

And no, it shouldn't have rust either.

Take the car back, but you do have to give them an opportunity to fix it. Insist on a hire car whilst they fix it.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

You need to check the Toyota corrosion warranty to see what is covered, the standard warranty on a Honda states :-
Surface Corrosion Warranty 3 Years - Corrosion appearing on painted surfaces.

Structural Corrosion Warranty 12 Years - Corrosion from the inside to outside of body panels.
I doubt that any manufacturer will give 12 years warranty against surface rust appearing around wheel arches of a car after 7 years .
