Nothing on the market

Having had my flat go to SSTC within 24 hours, the initial happiness has worn off. I have looked at a few houses within a 40 mile area from 1 bed, to 3 bed, from £150k to £220k to try and find something. But nothing. And nothing seems to be coming to the market. I've got an open mind, but what is on the market is overpriced and very small.
I just want to move and get on with my life.
I worry nothing new will come up in the coming weeks. I am anxious my buyer will pull out if it takes me more than a month to find something. I'm a week in post-offer and panicking.
Is anyone else finding this?

Tell your buyer, so they can slow the process down their end sooner rather than later.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. They're aware, and my agents are getting regular updates from me to pass on. They are buying it to move into eventually, not straightaway so I hope that would help with flexibility, but I'm just so anxious.
I also know what a torturous process it is and want to get it over and done with.0 -
You have a buyer who's not yet chomping at the bit.
You don't want to choose the wrong place just because that's all there is.
If your buyer did need to speed up, would you be prepared to sell now and use storage/rental until you do find your ideal new place?0 -

There is a difference between actually overpriced and you not being able to afford the difference in value between your flat and what you would like to buy.0 -
I think the problem is that most people don't realise how small other houses are until they have to pick one.... you imagine that everything you'll move to will be fabulous - and the longer you look and think about it the bigger your "wish list" becomes until it's completely out of touch with reality.
Sometimes though, it's true, there is nothing where you want/like you want - so then you get stuck.....0 -

Actually, I'm moving to a different area in a lower cost part of the country which I know very well. I am fully aware of what I can afford and what my budget is...and I can certainly get a house for the same as a flat.0 -

I'd lose too much in mortgage redemption penalties

Surely if EVERYTHING is over priced and to small the real issue is that you can't afford a house big enough for your needs.
Or is there literally no big houses ?0 -
Well, obviously there are 3 in the area I seek which are within my budget, but bedrooms which are 2.44m x 3.2m for double bedrooms aren't exactly very useful. A kitchen you can't fit a standard dishwasher in because it has been badly designed isn't helpful. nowhere you can put a tumble dryer, not useful! Gardens overlooked by 8 other houses.....no thank you.
I'm not desperately picky (believe it or not) but the standard of the !!!! thrown up these days is poor, and only second-hand new builds fall within budget - all 3 of them.0 -

Well, that's all right then. If it's certain, might as well lock the thread.0
